Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!
If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!
Here's what I know so far:
There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

I went there to buy my scrubs today and I found out that they re-located. the people at the store are very nice and they will tell exactly what you need to buy.
I just received this email. Has anyone else? I already did a background check with my application.

Lungu2007, not sure if you are a male or female but do you know if females have to buy the female style uniform? I'm pregnant now and will be having my baby in a few weeks and am worried about a more fitted uniform. I, of course, will buy what is required but....
Hey Bethany1975, I just received that email too. It looks like we will be needing another background check from the looks of it. Can anyone else confirm?
Yes, I was confused, too! Thinking of calling this afternoon if no one hears back from them. I also got a message from certifiedbackground.com at the same time telling me I had a new message. Seems a little fishy. If we DO have to get another background check, I will not be amused. They said next year every time I asked!
I went to the Elston location of Uniforms To You and got all of my stuff. I don't think you have to get all female stuff. You can get whatever is more comfortable! I got shoes from them but not one of the three listed on the form. I found them on clearance for $12.50, and figured if they weren't right, I could buy the ugly croc-looking ones later. The girl helping me said she didn't think it had to be exactly what was on the list. Just all white shoes. The choices of pants are awful and I might try to get other pants when the program starts.
In the uniform email, didn't it say that we would be receiving an email regarding class schedules, etc. on July 2nd?? Anyone else NOT get that??
I got the other email also. I will not be amused either if we really do have to get another one.
Yes, the email said we'd be getting another email. I didn't get it but was not surprised.
I don't want to start off our Nursing School experience complaining but really!??? Truman has been doing this for ages, I just don't understand how it can be so unorganized. I may not know everything that is involved but I feel like I could go in there and clean it up in no time.
On a positive note, everyone I have delt with in the Nursing Dept has been so nice.
Got the background check email from District and one from the background company also. Called Truman Nursing Dept and Ms. Walker stated she wasn't aware and would followup with me after speaking to Dr. Gurney.
