Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

Yea, maybe it is a defense mechanism haha..who knows. Just nerve-wracking thinking about everything, but I guess time will tell. Everything happens for a reason. Good Luck everyone! :yeah:

You said it EmEmJay! Lol

Did anyone apply for the regular deadline at the deadline? That would be me. Lol

I'm just wondering how long it's going to take for us procrastinators to find out. My transcripts are checked off on Albert so I'm guessing that's a good sign :)

very much in agreement about 80K and the getting the same degree. I have had a lot of people tell me it is just not worth it :( Anyone know if I will have to pay more than $500 by Aug 15? I am thinking of putting down a deposit, and by Aug 15, if I hear I am accepted from another school I applied to, decide to bail on NYU. All these decisions are so hard!

hey, yea my transcripts are all checked off...have been for about a week. i submitted regular..hopefully we hear before may 1st! i have to respond to whether i want to study abroad in the fall or not :/

also regarding the price...i too am iffy about that but i know that my chances of getting in elsewhere are extremely slim and i'll be really lucky to make it into nyu. plus i've always wanted to live in ny! with that said...while i'm sure it'll take awhile for me to pay off loans...the experience and the ppl u will meet are priceless :)

The tuition (which I agree is pretty darn high), is not simply for the degree. If all we wanted was to become RNs, then we could all get an associates degree from our local technical colleges and spend in the 10-15K range. If tuition is the only factor, or the main factor, Cleveland State Univ has an accelerated nursing program which is just about 30K (as do many other schools). I want to think it's for the whole experience of being in a good program that will prepare us well, give us the opportunity to network, and have our clinicals in awesome hospitals in one of the world's most diverse cities.

That being said, I will look at all tuition reimbursement type options when I graduate.

I hope you guys hear this week!!!! Please keep us all posted and GOOD LUCK! :)

2nurse1,

I hope will here before May 1st. I called this morning and 160 people are going to be enrolled. This number seems low considering the amount of people they already accepted. I'm still waiting to here from Catholic University. I won't here from Marymount until June. Where else have you applied?

I just called and I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! I'm freaking out!!! I called and had to wait for an answer over the phone; about the time the admissions counselor said "Oh no (5 second pause where I am convinced I was rejected)...my computer froze, sorry!", I thought I was going to have a heart attack...haha...

The counselor I spoke to over the phone said that they were supposed to have sent out another batch for priority applicants on Friday, but due to a "technical error" they are waiting until tomorrow to send out emails. So...tomorrow may be the day for you guys, GOOD LUCK!

Now I just have to do what everyone else is doing and figure out a way to magically conjure up 70K in tuition money...haha....

SO EXCITED!!!! :)

Congrats Char2011!!!!

I was wondering, if you didnt mind sharing, what were your stats like? Experience?

Congrats again!

Congrats Char!! So excited for you and jealous that you know! And yes, I am curious about your stats too, if you don't mind sharing!

KKandes, no problem! I had a 3.38 GPA from Univ. of Michigan, and I had all A's and B's in my prereqs. I worked for 3 years at the VA Hospital in the neuropsychology department, and also did work for a semester at the U of M hospital in a lab for patients with schizophrenia; besides that I worked for a non-profit for a year that worked to provide free healthcare to poor areas in Latin and South America. In terms of volunteer stuff, I traveled to Peru for a summer and worked in a hospital there, and I do some work with the American Cancer Society in putting on Relay for Life...

Hope this helps, and thanks again!! Good luck everyone...I'm crossing my fingers for you tomorrow! :)
