ABSN UMASS Amherst 2018

Hi there!

I will be applying to UMass Amherst for the Aug 2018 entering class. I wanted to start a thread for any prospective applicants.

Feel free to discuss anything! Hopefully we can all help each other through the next couple of months while we complete apps and await decisions.

I had a 4.0, 10+ years taking care of a child with special needs (commensurate with LPN duties), and I know my A&P professor wrote me a great rec.

Honestly I don't think they care as much about the experience as they do the grades. From previous years it seems they would take the top ~100 GPAs and whittle from there (using the other application components).

That's what I thought too! That's why I'm really confused because I got an email from Umass IT saying "congratulations on your admission to Umass....." and there was a link to set up an account and I‎t said my major was the nursing program. But I did not get any emails from the nursing department, that's why I'm confused. Maybe I'll get one tomorrow or maybe I‎t was a mistake from IT. I'm really not sure.

Congrats :) do you mind if I ask about your stats?

No. I havent heard back yet but the email they sent said that they would get in touch with everyone waitlisted by April 1st

Hello Everyone,

My name is Kaitlyn and I was also put on the waitlist for the UMASS Absn Fall 2018 semester. I have contacted the program assistant and she has said that she is not allowed to give out waitlist numbers and that those who will be added will be notified by April 1st. Best of luck everyone!

After a very hard period of deliberation, I've decided to decline my spot in favor of a program that wouldn't require me to relocate. Good luck to those on the waitlist and to all attending in August!
