should we be appling for loans before our financial aid interview? i often jump the gun and by doing that ruin the most successful path.

I spoke with my adviser about this also...private loans have a 30-day acceptance criteria, which is why they advise us to wait until Oct. However, I was afraid of not getting a good rate (below 7%) so I went ahead and applied for one through Sallie Mae just to get an idea. They do ping your credit when applying, but it should bounce back w/in 1-2 months and now I have a better idea of what rate I can expect to get for my loans.
If you are not worried about that then I suggest just waiting, but I was worried I wouldn't get a great rate since I have no co-signer. Hope this helps!

From my understanding, they only grant them for extenuating circumstances.

Kind of off-topic, but is anyone moving their dog with them? I live out of state and I can’t picture myself without my pup ?
