Hi All!
I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??
Hey, good luck to everyone tomorrow although I'm sure you're not going to need it! Will someone eat some BBQ and drink some beer for me, please?
Depending on the weather, some people may not be able to go out unless they are staying at the Millineum and can walk. They are calling for 11 inches in Raleigh: http://www.wral.com/weather/story/6902225/
I'll believe it when i see it! :-)
I love my North Carolinian weather forescasters...but we'll either get hit with a foot of snow or absolutely nothing! I would love to see lots of snow...just hope the ice stays to the south. I'm not a fan of power outages in the winter since I no longer have a fireplace. (At least I have 2 dogs to keep me warm!)
Sarabear, how did it go today??
I'm in Durham! All checked in to the Millenium and about to hit the sack. And I seem to have been afflicted with some sort of cough-y unfairness so if/when I see any of you tomorrow, please don't be offended if I stay a few feet back! Ugh... viruses just suck!
I'm so excited about tomorrow though... I can't believe it's finally time. :)
Hey everyone, thanks for all the well wishes. Just to let you know, it went well. I set up a mirror in my bedroom and downloaded the photos of my interviewers so... yeah, ha ha. I was really excited the whole time so I hope I didn't come across like a 5th grader They really just read the questions right off a paper and then there were 15 min. left for me. And since the time slot after me was open, they let me have a few extra minutes. It feels good that I have done everything I can do to try to get in. Now, I just have to wait a few more weeks........
That's crazy about the snow forecast!!! Good luck everybody and be careful!! I will be thinking of you and your interviews! One tip: since the questions are formulaic, make sure you know what you want to tell them about yourself, because you may not address it in the answers to their questions and then you can just mention it at the end.
XO :)
Hey. Just got back to the house. Others were finishing up their interviews esp. if they were in "Group D". They canceled the campus tour - I think it had alot to do with the cold weather. We did get to the see the CND which was pretty cool.
Hope everybody did great today - I think so! It was good to meet some of you. Hope to meet the rest in August.
Good luck to all of those that haven't interviewed yet. You will do fabulous!!!
Anybody getting bad weather this weekend (or that's already gotten it), be safe and stay warm!
It was great to meet so many of you today finally, even though I was all sick and grumpy. :) I'm all bundled up in the hotel now, taking Robitussin like my life depends on it and watching the snow accumulate outside! So much for our plan to spend Saturday exploring the area... it's looking like we might be essentially stuck inside tomorrow with all the sleet and ice predicted. BUMMER. At least my boyfriend's enjoying the snow, though he perhaps is a little too enthusiastic about the "launch snowballs at my girlfriend" idea whenever we go outside... grr.
I really enjoyed the day though, and those of you coming out this way next week will too, I'm sure. The campus is so beautiful and the faculty at the SON are really wonderful. I'm so glad they put this program together for us and feel more confident than ever that this is where I want to be.
Snow day! Work is shut down. Hope everyone from out of town has been able to leave safely! Thanks for the insights about the interviews; it has been really helpful.
I guess it's time to hunker down and actually practice for the interview. I've never had a formal interview of any sort... as a cook a job interview usually involves showing up and getting thrown on an unfamiliar grill station for 5 hours on a friday night. The thing is, I'm really not nervous at all about it. Perhaps I should be?

Sara~ Good luck today!
My boyfriend and I are leaving in a few hours! Hope we don't get stuck in Durham. They are saying Asheville is going to get 10 inches! Eeekk.
Can't wait to see everyone, have safe travels!
