Has anyone else applied for their most recent new-grad RN residency program? I applied the day after it opened up.
I thought I'd start a thread for anyone else who signed up to discuss it. Perhaps someone might know how many people they usually take per round or something?
I'm not putting TOO much hope into it since I'm an ADN, but from what I understand these types of residency programs are the only good shot at getting into hospitals as a new grad nowdays.
Does anyone plan to try and call them to follow-up or something? I've thought about it, but they explicitly state on their website not do to that, haha.

Thank you. I want to apply, but I don't graduate until August, so I don't know if I qualify, because I haven't passed NCLEX yet?

I applied too, and I don't know whether to follow or not, because I always heard you were, but a lot of these hospitals say no....its so hard to find a job in az as a new grad.
Well, I just learned something today the hard way:
to any new RN's looking at this program, they only take BSN graduates. I was told they only look at ADN grads if they don't fill all (25-30) slots of BSN grads. Don't get your hopes up too much about this one if you're an ADN like me.

This is news to me.
I spoke with the Director of ED at an Abrazo hospital, as well as the Head of Nursing Education (the person that put together the NG program) and no one mentioned this.
If this is really what you want, don't take no for an answer.

I also applied and went to a career fair that they were out. I spoke with a lady from HR and she didnt know when people would be contacted for interviews. The career fair was about 3 weeks ago and she said that it might take a couple weeks to go through all the applications. The start date of the program is September 19th though so I would think that they would start making phone calls soon. Good Luck everyone.

AZWildcatRN-- I've done the exact same thing as you have done with Abrazo... attended a job fair and applied for the New Grad Program. And I wait for a call........

thanks for starting this thread...I'm glad to know there are others in the same boat. I applied as soon as I saw the program open up, I think it was around mid July. I went to the career fair and met with hr, and thought it was promising. I know there are so few new grad programs in the area, so they had an enormous amount of applicants for a very few positions. I know I've been told a few times now that az heart can only take about three newgrads. three. and they start on a tele floor. when I called to follow up, they told me they had an additional 75 applicants. they told me they were overwhelmed and inundated with applications. but the program does start on the nineteenth, so they must have to start interviewing soon-I would imagine. . . I don't know. but I'm antsy! My application status on the abrazo website hasn't changed for a few weeks...what's everyone's status say??
good luck to all you new grads looking to get this show on the road!
My application status is the same as says something to the affect of " I am being considered along with other applicants and i will be contacted if they wish to interview me". Yeah the program starts almost in a month so interviews should start soon. If I do not get contacted by next week I will assume they have moved on to other applicants.

Hi all! I am in the same boat. My status still says my application is being reviewed...etc. I have tried calling Abrazo, but either I get put on hold for a REALLY long time, or I am put through to a generic VM. Hopefully, we will hear something soon! Good luck to everyone!
Has anyone heard anything? Program start date is now less than 3 wks away and I saw on Abrazo's facebook page they have re-opened the opening for additional applications.
Well I think I received a call from them yesterday but I cant be too sure because they didnt leave a message. I called the number back and it was the West Valley Medical Center in Goodyear, which is an Abrazo hospital. I figure if they wanted me to interview then they would have left a message or maybe they will just call me again. Or it could be just a coincedence and someone dialed my number by accident. Who knows?? . But if they did repost the application then maybe they are pushing back the start date to accomodate more new grads or that they will be having two seperate cohorts and start dates.
