A thread for those awaiting decisions...

Published

I just thought i'd make a thread for those that are eagerly awaiting to hear decisions from the applications they have made for 2009!

I applied to 7 schools for mostly direct entry MSN programs, i got rejected by one so far :( i hope it's not a trend that'll continue :/

Lets hear about which schools you all applied to! :)

Thanks Allison! Orientation is on May 27. It's so early! I still have a couple pre-reqs left to take and my classes aren't scheduled to end until the first week of June so I'm in the process of petitioning my professors to take my exams early. I'm still on the waitlist for Penn, but I think I read in another thread that the earliest we would find out if we got in or not would be March 15, but I have to let Columbia know by March 16 so I don't know if I should just drop off Penn's waitlist or just wait it out and maybe see if I can push for an earlier decision. Have you made any decisions about where you'll be going? Congrats on your acceptance to Marquette too! You have so many greats schools to choose from!

And congrats to you steffie! I was also accepted to Columbia. Which specialty did you apply for? I got in for PNP.

Traycie

Wow! That IS really nice to hear. Thank you for sharing!

Congrats everyone on the acceptances! I'm in at Columbia, too, for PNP.

I was getting worried there for a bit, but now am elated and definitely will be moving to New York come May!

Tammy: Eric (at Duke) told me that to be accepted into the DNP program, a candidate must first be accepted into the MSN program. When the MSN program roster is complete, the applicants further applying for the DNP will be forwarded on to that committee. So MSN applicants may be hearing something in March, but DNP applicants won't hear until late April. It is entirely possible to be accepted into the MSN program but not the DNP.

I also called George Washington: their admissions committee is meeting in April.

It reminds me of the line in Ghostbusters when they guys got fired and Dan Ackroid was lamenting having to leave the University and go to work in the private sector. He didn't want to do that because "they expect results." The endless committee meetings in the University enviornment must be mind numbing.

I missed the app deadline for UNCs School of Public Health too. :sigh:

Congrats everyone on the acceptances! I'm in at Columbia, too, for PNP.

Hey!

I am also in at Columbia for PNP. Are you going to Columbia for sure?? Or are you still deciding? Congrats!! :)

Decision is made! I just sent in my deposit to Columbia tonight, and have started laptop and apartment hunting..

Which schools are you waiting to hear from, and deciding about?

That's so exciting that you know for sure that it's what you want. I am basically deciding between Boston College and Columbia. But at the same time I'm waiting to hear from UCSF in March. I am from CA so I was looking forward for a change of scene in either NYC or boston, but at the same time if I somehow magically got into UCSF, I wouldn't be able to pass it up... so I half want to get in, cuz it would be a good school, and half don't, so then I'd be "forced" to go east.

where are you going to be moving from?

I felt the same way about UCSF if I had gotten in there, too! However, fate and the UCSF Admissions Committee stepped in and made the decision for me. :p

I actually work at UCSF now in the hematopathology department, and live in the city.

Where in CA are you from?

Craaazy! I don't live in the city, but I live across the bay in Oakland. I only go to the city for shopping and an occassional outing, not living in the city itself, makes it a pain to go back and forth. It must be fun living in SF!!

ha! There are a few of us bay area direct entry applicants posting ok there threads...

Congrats on your acceptances and interviews this far! Every school you listed boasts an amazing program; you'll have a quality education and experience wherever you end up.

I love living in the city, and if you get on to UC's program, I'm sure you would, too. Best of luck in your decision process.

I'd believe it. I'm in the FNP program at USA and I applied super early. I love it!!!

Congrats to all who have received their acceptance letters!

Anney, congrats to you!! I have applied to the DNP program at USA... now waiting until mid March for interviews is going to kill me.
