I volunteer to show a newbie nurse how to do hearing screen on a patient. I only know her first name from her badge. The test got a refer result. I accidently said it loud, Dang, it's refer again,†because I was very frustrated with the machine that keeps getting a refer result. She looked at me in an awkward facial expression. I later learned that the newbie nurse's last name was Dang. From that day, I never use any slang exclamation of disappointment or frustration any more.
