I don't always get sucked into a jet engine ... But when I do, I use ICD-10 code: V97.33XD.

I think I just woke up my fiancee 2 rooms over. Oh my God this is funny. I'm going to have to make more memes similar to OP's. Thanks for the laugh on a stressful morning. :)

Technically, subsequent encounters means with a provider, but...

It would be funny if it weren't used for billing. Other countries just use it to gather data. We are the only country that uses ICD-9 and now 10 for billing which means more ways for CMS and insurance to reject claims.

When I worked at the Women's Clinic last year I went to a 2 day ICD10 seminar because...Ooooooooooh, it was right around the corner!

The water skiing DX. I remember doing a spit take right there in the conference room. Come ON.

T71.231D - Asphyxiation due to being trapped in a discarded refrigerator, accidental

What is the code for a secondary encounter?

I guess they figured it was highly unlikely to get struck by an orca twice that they didn't bother coming up with one.

Well secondary encounter codes would be used for billing for follow up visits for the orca strike injuries, no?

If the person were to find themselves struck by a separate orca, or even struck by the same orca again, on a different occasion, and had new injuries, I believe that would be another initial encounter.

I wonder if there's a 90 day time limit between encounters.

I wonder if one of the developers of ICD 10 worked near a Sea World.
