I have taken Chemistry and not taken any biology and I can enroll in A&PI without biology. Has anyone else taken A&PI with little or no biology background? I am ready to start in September and am wondering if I am making a mistake and should take intro to biology instead? I have already been accepted into a nursing program and need a C+ in A&P to transfer to the nursing school. They suggest you take it a co-req. with the other nursing courses, but I am trying to lighten the course load.
TIA!
Anything's possible I suppose, it just depends on how much work you're willing to put into it out of class.
My CC took an interesting approach to the pre-reqs for A&P1. They created something called a Learning Community. It's two classes, one is Chem for Health Proffestionals and is a combo class of Gen, Organic and Bio chemistry the second class is Cellular Biology. Both curriculum's were created together and the A&P teachers drive the curriculum. The classes are so integrated that you literally use info in Bio that you learned a couple of hours ago in chemistry. They are long classes, 2 hrs and 45 minutes each with a thirty minute break between them. But they are broken up with a lot of different kinds of activities, so the time goes quickly. It's working out wonderfully so far.
Best of luck!
Peace,
Cathie
I was just wondering if anyone knew some sites to help me out with A & P? I am taking it now and i am overwhelmed. I am trying to fill out my lab book and i can't do it because i dont understand the material. Is there something that i can do that would help me better understand this because its only the 1st week of school, well 2nd week starting tomorrow, and it's only going to get harder.
I did not take any pre req's before taking my sciences this summer, no chem no biology no nothing. I did pretty good getting a 89% in both A&P's and 96% in Micro. They have a little chemistry in them and i decided to self teach myself some. You Can do it without Bio and Chem, just study hard and ask what you don't understand.

Im not sure what text you are using but this site really helped my whole class out http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072919329/student_view0/index.html
If it is not required by your school that you have BIO first, then that's the biggest thing (my school required it). I personally did better (I think) having the biology behind me...it helped me understand more of what they were talking about. But that's just me!! It doesn't mean that you won't be able to comprehend and pass the class!! Best of luck to you!!
actually you can study and pass a&p if you dedicate yourself and time to it.
i start a&p 1 this monday; i have already started readying the chapters and i am currently on tissues.
just remember to always read ahead of your class, stay focused and dedicate yourself. i realized reading through the text book that this class is all about memory work. and although it may seem difficult, it's really easy if you understand the concept of how things work.
personally, i like challenges and i am so determined to make it through this class. my gpa as at now is 4, and i have no intention of giving up my a.
tanner523, being determined and walking into that class with confidence is half the battle fought. i wish you, myself and any other person taking this class this fall good luck.
always ladyk :-)

Didn't your professor give you keys to the lab book? Mine did! I am thinking I got one of the best professors for A&P, she really seems like she wants us to succeed. Of course, ask me again in a month after my first exam!

Cellular/Molecular Biology was the prereq for A&P here.
