A&P 2 in a 8 week summer semester??

Published

What does everyone think about taking A&P 2 in a 8 week summer semester? Is A&P 2 harder or easier than A&P 1? Because in ENGL 1301 & 1302, 1302 was waaaay easier than 1301 (I don't know if anyone noticed that?) I am in A&P 1 right now but so far I have an A, and plan on finishing with an A). Or should I take BIOL 2420 in the 8 week summer semester? (if it's available, not sure yet). Please give me your opinions which I'll take in consideration, thanks!

I did the short summer course for a&p 2. It's fine. The big difference is 1 is memorization while 2 is understanding. My personal opinion is that a solid grounding in a&p 2 is the key to nursing school. If you understand the systems and how they interact, you'll be well on your way to success in nursing school. Especially on tests.

I think that could work well. 8 weeks is plenty of time. It's intense, but not so short that it's unrealistic for learning. I took my 5 unit micro class in 6 weeks, and did well, though I was dreaming about streaking plates and looking through microscopes every night! LOL

Our anatomy and physiology were two separate classes, so I couldn't tell you which of your classes would be harder. However, I would think that having a foundation of A&P 1 would help you with A&P 2.

I took A&P 2 a year ago for an 8 wk summer semester and let me say it was the best thing ever. I honestly could not imagine stretching A&P 2 for a regular 16 wks. I am not going to say it is easier because there were certainly a time or two when I couldn't quite grab the concept as fast as I connected the dots with other body systems. But you will really get to see (if you don't in A&P 1) how everything is all connected. And then you're like "oh, okay I remember that". Also, expect to dissect your college's animal of choice (mine was a HUGE cat) every week after the first week, so if you are a breakfast eater, eat light. It was really awesome, and you'll do just fine.

Good day:

I'm finding AP 2 easier than AP 1 for the most part. I think it would be doable in an 8 week summer session if you stayed on top of everything.

Thank you.

I would not say A&P 2 is necessarily harder, it is just a continuation from A&P 1. You essentially have to learn the systems in the human body. The text book does not progress from easy to hard per-say, what might be easy for you might be challenging for another.

I personally felt A&PI was easier but the majority of my classmates disagreed with me. I think that the summer sessions are a blessing. It is an intense few weeks but it is very possible to get it done and get an A. I do not like taking my science courses during the full semesters because it draws out the information over TOO MUCH time and becomes hard for me to stay focused, even if I have no problem with the material.

I took both A&P 1 & 2 over the summer. 5 weeks each. One of the best decisions I've ever made! It's hard to get off track in an environment like that!

Wow thanks everyone! I really appreciate all of your feedback! I feel very determined and encouraged to do A&P 2 in the 8 week summer semester, I was really hesitant and unsure, but now I am inspired to do it!!! However that will be the only class I will take for the summer semester to make sure i get that "A" because last summer semester I took 4 classes and passed em all with a "B"! Yes I know I'm cray cray!!!

Good luck! I am thinking about doing the same thing!

I took it last summer in a 6 week session along with American Literature. I made A's in both. As long as you devote the time required, you'll do fine. There is zero room to slack off or fall behind in the summer.

Yes I know, people may not believe how quick it is to fall behind in a summer semester! Lol but that's the part where we can demonstrate to ourselves if we really want to be nurses! You can't just say I want to be a nurse and fail your classes, you gotta show it with hard work and dedication! The faster you get thru and pass your classes the faster you will get to be a nurse..... *^_^* sorry I went off its just that I'm tired of hearing people say they want to be a nurse then they don't even try to pass their prerequisite classes!!!
