A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Yep, we have a couple of those in our class. :chuckle

I'm lucky. None of those in this class. Though I feel like I've had more than my share in other classes. But the worse is when the instructor does it to himself. My Human Development is a chapter or two behind becuase of this. Though we consider ourselves lucky that our instructor is so interesting that we don't really care.

From the way our instructor runs our class, I've come to new conclusions about time management in classes and being able control when people ask questions. My instructor in in A&P always says, "I'll take your question in a moment." That way you know he's seen your hand, but he controls when students interrupt the lecture with questions. I've only had a couple of teachers who are able to do this, but it makes all the difference.

I definitely agree with you, maliat. At least the extreme question askers in my class ask good questions. I've been in some classes where there were a couple of students needing to be in a remedial class just to have their bizarre questions answered. lol

I have to tell you....I'd be MUCh happier if our professor would nicely tell her that she will answer her UNrelated questions AFTER class. I am MORE than ready to take this exam on Tuesday...but I know fellow students who are NOT and I would never in a million years have the gall to ask a test be pushed up!

This is this lady's 2nd time taking this class. She " claims" she's just taking it again because she " liked it" but when she DOES ask questions that are related- they are so trivial that ANYONE who had taken the course before would KNOW it. So far I have heard about her memory, her skin problems, her herniated disc ( and we aren't even ON the spine yet LMAO)..various joint problems oh and yes, how could I forget...her lasik eye surgery ( during the action potential lecture- ummm..relevance? hello? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!),,,,ummmm let's see...oh and yes...she actually asked the other day why if the " occiptal lobe" deals with vision...how can the superior coniculli ( which is on the midbrain) have a part. The professor nicely says that rememeber that not ONE place does ALL the function and that there are other areas and she says " But, but, how can that BE?".

I have already declared to myself that when I move onto A+P2 if she is in my class I will drop and take it online or switch to another class...I cannot DO another semester with her. Im not joking...sad ain't it?

Thanks! Most of the muscle pics are ones with muscles missing, but I plan to take more this next week when Spring Break is over. Also, I'll be taking pics of the nervous system stuff when we get to that for the third and final exam.

As for the NET Study Guide, I'm probably going to keep it....Just in case, God forbid, I don't get into the nursing program within the two years, and have to take it again.

BUT....I did get it on EBAY for much cheaper. I definitely say you should get one, even if you have to pay full price from eriworld.com. (You can always resell it on Ebay.) lol

I am so nervous. I have to take a make-up test tomorrow for lecture and I just looked at everyones grades and it looks like only three people have passed. Our school has changed A&P to include so much. We are having tests every other week on 6 or more chapters, no one is able to get through. Even the nursing instructors are commenting on how soon we won't have any nursing students because of the sciences. We even have two take home tests that we never even touch in class just to cover it all. So far I am barely skimming by with an 80%, but after the test tomorrow I may not. :scrying:

I know how you feel! One test and your hard earned average can go down. I am drowning in AP and we have tests like every other week. You really have to keep up or you will fail. I am taking a test on tuesday and i think my 85% average will go down.. wish me luck!

Trying not to sound rude, but I wish we had an exam every other week! We have only 6 grades. That's 3 lecture exams, and 3 lab practicals.

Now THAT covers LOTSSSSSSS of info on each exam!

Again I say, THANK GOD I don't have to work!

Great lab pics! I also enjoyed reading your diary.

Gosh Katie, I wish you had posted this last week. I just gave my copy away to a fellow student in my Sociology class who failed the math section. I would have gladly mailed it to you. Sorry sweetie. :(

My A&P class is pretty crazy too! We only have 4 Lecture exams and 2 Lab exams. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's OK, I will get one soon. :)

I can see pros and cons to both ways of testing! :icon_hug: I do know that when I had an extra week to study due to influenza I only got 5 wrong on the test. I just think that A&P classes in general shove way too much stuff at you and expect you to purge it out at a whim.

I just know that in my class we have had over 100 drop already and of the people who are left only 27% are passing. Something is wrong with that picture.

We have had a lot drop out of my class as well....and most of those who dropped were taking it for the 2nd time. I was really surprised by that.

We have 4 lab tests and 4 lecture tests. There is no lab final...there is a comprehensive lecture final. I can't imagine having any less than this...as it is a lot already. I'm not sure if I'd like a test every week- I think every 2-3 units instead of 4-6 units would be better in my case.

I really feel for the people who are taking multiple classes as well. I set myself up so this is the ONLY course I could take this semester ( all other pre-req's done except A+P II and Micro- which I will take summer/fall). There's a girl in class taking A+P I, Micro, Chemistry, and Statistics and failing miserably....plus she works 2 jobs....that's just wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much for me.....I feel bad for her.
