Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.
Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Congrats Boonersmom!!!!
We only have 3 lecture tests, and 3 lab practicals. 6 grades to do it right, or not at all.....
MessieJessie, I am so sorry you have to work full-time. A&P is a #*$#*$(#, without the stress of work. ughhhh
We are having Spring Break right now, same time as the kiddos. :)
BTW....I have put all my lab pics online, so you're welcome to visit!!
We had spring break last week so it is back to working my butt off this week. I am so jealous of everyone that has all day to study. Working full time and taking this class is doing nothing for my social life, that is for sure! :)

We have 3 1/2 lecutre tests, 7 lab tests, a dissection, and the final. Our lowest lab test is dropped though! :)
After two weeks, we finally got our 1st real lecture exam back today. The first lecture test was only 50 points, the one we took 2 weeks ago, and the next 2 are worth 150 each, hence my calling this one our 1st real exam. I got a 122/150. I thought I had done SOO bad, so I am very happy with my 80%. I still have an 88, and can certainly bring that up, especially with the extra credit we can earn next week. It's only 10 points, but hey, that will bring my current grade up to an A! It's kind of funny, because I thought I did OK on the essay on the Sarcomere, and TERRIBLE on the essay on stability vs. mobility. Well, I got a 13/20 on the sarcomere and a 15/20 on the stability vs. mobility.
Do you all have to do essay's on your lecture exams? Our lecture exams are brutle, especially if you have lab and lecture on the same day as I do. We get to have a multiple choice/fill in test for 1 1/2 hours, then go directly into lab where we have to write 2 essays in a 3 hour time period. Boy are we fried when we are done! Anyway, I was just curious how other schools work it. Remember at our school it's only Anatomy, not A&P combined.

Hey, Heather:
Glad you finally got your lecture midterm back. To get an 80% on that particular instructor's midterm is no small achievement. Glad to hear you are still within easy reach of an A and so glad about the extra credit, too. I need it BAAAAD myself. Just got my muscle lab exam back and got a 78, about 5-7 points lower than I expected, but the 12 points from going to the 4 lectures will bring it to a 90, which is an A.
I am having a visceral reaction to the upcoming see-loam and viscera exam on Friday. I am so unprepared it's not even funny. I worked 12.5 hours last Friday with no lunch break and didn't do anything but sleep, stare and then sleep again from Friday night to Sunday morning I was so exhausted from work/school last week, and I had planned to go to open lab on Saturday which I sorely needed to do.
I'll be in open lab tomorrow (Tuesday evening) trying to make more sense out of the arteries/veins, see-loam and viscera in the cadavers and the heart in the prosections even though I'll be running on fumes by then.
Knowing you, you've probably got it all memorized by now...
Take it easy and good luck on Friday if I don't hear from you or see you until then.
Hey Heather
I have lab+ lecture on Tuesdays and lecture only on Thursdays. Our class does a LOT online though....hence the reason I can get my grades earlier is she posts them online. Its NOT an online course but our prof. is the head of the online dept and I think she forgets that at times LOL!
Anyway our lab tests are all practicals. Normally 50 questions - 1 at each "station" and we "rotate" from station to station every minute until we are all done. Lecture tests are a combination of multiple choice, T/F, Matching, and " choose all that apply".
How DO you do it?
A lot of ppl in my class ask me the same question and for *me* honestly it's just brute-force repetition. I do the online " book" tets that came in my book CD over and over and over along with the tests in the back of my study guide and I do about 300 flashcards per test. I carry my flashcards with me everywhere- grocery store, in the car, etc etc you name it...whenever I have a few idle moments I whip them out. I'm lucky to work out of my house so I only work LATE at night- which means during the day when my kids are in school and I'm not at school I study ( although to be honest 1/2 the time I wind up falling asleep- I made it about 5 minutes into spinal tracts yesterday and woke up 3 1/2 hours later)....but anyway...just repetition, repetition, repetition.
EXACTLY!!! And use different sources to look at things for lab!!!! I use the book and lab book, of course, andstudy guide. BUT....I also search the internet for tissues, bones, muscles, etc. I get to where I know what I'm looking at whatever the differences are. That way, when I get to lab practical exam, and the instructor has pulled out a new slide, model, picture, etc that I have never seen.....it's ok! I have learned the stuff frontwards and backwards seeing all kinds of different looking things that are the same thing. That's why I got my 100%. (That's why my class didn't get a curve on their lab practical...sorry class....oops! :chuckle)
And of course......my motto from before......
Study all day, will get me my A!!
Good luck to you!
As for the essay question part.....on the lecture there are 80 multiple choice, and 2 essay/short answer questions worth 10 points each, but we have a list of possible questions already.
On the lab practical there are not any essay questions, but it did have 35 written questions to answer, and 40 identification questions from models, slides, etc. The other 25% comes from a Case Study we do at home, but it's not easy. I made 25% on the first Case Study for the first test, but this second one looks hard.
It's over "Muscle Dysgeny". Anyone even have a clue?????????????????/

OK I HAVE got to ask if you have one of these in your classes. " The Annoying Person"
There is this lady in my lecture( not in my lab thank goodness) ...anyway she's always asking 10000 unrelated questions or piping up bits of useless information. She slows the pace of lecture down to a SNAILS pace with her constant raising of her hand. She sits in the back row with me...and I know for a fact a good 10 or so other people were annoyed as all with her UNTIL
Yesterday- LMAO- this day will go down in infamy I swear. We are supposed to have an exam on Tuesday- but thanks to her - we haven't gotten through the material yet so the professor announced that she's backing the test up until Thursday. Well she raises her hand and I swear says " Ummmm could it be possible if we still had the test on Tuesday? I am sure my fellow classmates would agree it's better to just get it over with then delaying it 2 more days". Now this was followed with about 90% of the class staring at her like she had 10000 heads---- the professor calmly explains that we CANT have the exam until we FINISH the material and she raises her hand again and says " Can't we just finish the rest on our own time"???
LOL! It's because of HER that we haven't gotten through the material.
If you have ever wanted to have 90% of your fellow classmates staring at you with jaws hanging open.....try this trick out! The other 10% or so were laughing so hard they couldn't look up.
*whew* she's a piece of work!

Oh I have one of those in my A&P class and 2-3 students that like to ask the prof who is an MD unrelated questions regarding their health or share these idiotic stories about how their knee is 'double jointed'. I just want to SHOOT these individuals!!!!! Our prof usually shows up 20-30 minutes late and since we only meet once a week I want as much info/instruction as possible so now these students try to get free medical advice on my class time! On top of the fact that the prof stinks to begin with, has a very thick accent, and loves to give you trick questions and no study guide, I cant wait until this semester is over!!!!!
