Anyone else taking A&P for summer 2006? I was hoping maybe we could create something similar to A&P (winter/spring) club.
i got accepted into the lvn program and there is a new requirement where you have to take a & p i in a summer session and pass it with a 75. my grade is a 73 right now. its tough. everone else has taken a & p i and ii and thinks this class is easy. i haven't had any a & p. i still have 9 more tests to bring my grade up. any suggestions?

a&p is memorizing. this is what i did. i taped the lectures, read the chapters, copied the outlines and that is how i pulled my a. summer classes are really hard because there is so much information to learn and not much time to study for it. i am not sure at all i understand the meaning of requiring the class in the summer. i guess it is just another way to weed out the ones who dont really have a heart for nursing. good luck. you can do it.
I took A&P I this Spring (made a B). The instructor is the same one teaching A&P II for the 2nd summer term. He gave me the coloring book page numbers and I've already done them. Hope you guys don't have to do the coloring. I found it to be not so much fun. It's supposed to help with identification and functions, but I was so busy doing "lightest colors in A, B, D and F, etc........" instructions, I paid little or no attention to the actual anatomy. Anyway, the coloring book work (all 67 pages of them) add another 10% to the letter grade. That's incentive enough for me to go ahead and "get r done". 2nd term of summer is July 10-August 14 and is 4 days per week and is 12:00 - 3:50. Looks like I'll be doing nothing but A&P II but it is a really cool subject. As soon as Summer I (College Algrebra) is over, I plan to start hitting the A&P books in preparation for A & P II class. I'll have about 10 days of "leisure" time between the two classes.
Study, study, study! Use my quizzes, make your own, use other online quizzes.
Take pics to study from.
Write out body functions from step one to the end, read it over and over again. Sometimes reading things in your own words helps.
I typed my notes daily, and then recorded them while reading them. I made a CD of myself reading the notes, and listened to it every time I got in the truck.
ALWAYS have study material with you, at least your self-made quizzes or flashcards.
Read out loud. Sometimes the extra audial reviewing helps.
....It really depends on how you learn best.
Most of all, a positive attitude! Good luck to you all!!!
I just finished a 5 week summer A&P I, and now i am currently in A&P II with a 3 day break in between the 2. A&P I i barley got a B in and not because it was so hard A&P II is so much harder, But because i did not have that great study habits. I excelled in lab thats what got me the B, but they lecture exams since this is a 5 week course i did not study the BOAT Load of info you get every week. Now i am taking a different approach for A&P II i want an A and i know it is possible i read about people who take these classes in the condensed summer semesters and quarters and i am going after that. Plus i am getting myself into the groove for studying day and night during nursing school. I had a great instructor for part 1 she was very lenient and helpful, and for part II we have this MD from Israel who is very nice and wants us to do well but he is not lenient because as he says " I have responsibility to give you the Knowledge to be good medical professionals". But you cant hate him for that like some of the people in my class do, i don't because he is right we need to know this and if we don't we shouldn't go on. he is helpful though and passionate about what he does, he said worked with many good nurses when he practiced medicine, and he said nurses are the most important part of the tem and wants us to be like the great nurses he worked with. sorry to babble

That is the same book I have. I will use it also for A&P 2. The only problem with the tests on that website is that it goes deeper than an instructor sometimes goes. I used that for the first 4 chapters which were on exam #1. I was so scared I was going to fail it cause I kept getting 40%, 59%, etc. on the website tests, but I made an 88 on that first test. It does have some really good things on it though. Good luck. You can do it.
