A&P 1 Spring 08

Published

Hi y'all! Anybody taking A&P 1 this coming spring semester? I'm trying to get as many pre-req's out of the way as possible and could use a study buddy or 2! Thanks! :)

Well I am now on to CNS & PNS. Ok I totally almost cried when the lab kept going and going, the overwhelmingness of everything that we need to learn in one week. The chapter pages took forever and I have over 12 pages of notes. If it wasn't for all the physiology parts I'd being doing GREAT... I spend so much time on that, that when it comes time to memorize the locations of everything I panic. Ok that was just a vent but I am already thinking that once this is over I will take it again but in person after I take A&P II . Maybe as a refresher if I decide to wait for the CC Nursing program instead of going the Private way I may have time to kill as I have alot of my co-reqs out of the way.

I agree with you guys, i hate the muscles too its too much information to absorb Origin, insertions and who knows what. Right now the physiology is easier for me than the anatomy part.Everytime i think i know the a particular muscle it turns out to be a different muscle aahhh:smackingf.

There are muscles behind muscles ,I know if i just keep going i'll be ok.

OMG!!!! YES!!!! The muscles are confusing me:banghead:!!!! I have my 2nd lab Practical This Thursday on the cat muscles, the sheep brain, the eye, & the ear I am stressing out really bad over this test I do not want to fail:(!!!! I wish you the best of luck, let me know if you need any help & maybe I can you ok:saint:!!!!

I have my second lab practical tonight :uhoh3: and I'm freaking out!!! I finally just decided to focus mainly on muscle names & actions b/c that makes up 75% of the muscle part of the test...I just haven't had the time to memorize O/I with the lecture and my other classes. My lab practical is on people muscles, muscle physiology, cat muscles, cow brain, CNS, PNS, eye, and ear. I haven't decided if I'm going to have an aneurism, a heart attack, or a nervous breakdown...but I'm pretty sure it will be at least one:bugeyes:. Please ya'll send me positive thoughts so that I do ok on this test. Thank you!!!

With three weeks to go, my A&P class is down from 60 students to 12. It is feeling like a season of Survivor! Who will be next to get voted off the Island of Passing Grades?

I must say I am quite proud of myself for managing to keep my A average with so few of us left. My prof has stopped calling us a class and now refers to us as a study group LOL...one nice thing is that we each have our own cat now, instead of 1 for every 4 students!

Is anyone else experiencing similar attrition rates? Is this normal?

Our lecture class went from about 200 students to approximately 80-90. They're dropping like flies! On our last test, the average was a 62.5%:crying2:. So far I still have an A though!

Way to go, Katie! Our test averages are going up now, I think because the folks who were getting the lower grades are now gone.

Here's a good story...on our last lab practical test, I got an 86, my lowest grade all semester. Everyone said they had trouble with it, so out of curiosity I asked my prof what the highest grade was (not who, just the number). He looked at me and whispered, "You already know what the highest was." Yikes! Sure enough, the average was in the 50s, and my 86 was the highest. Too bad he doesn't curve practicals!

Thanks CSTwannabe! Great job to you too! It must feel good to get recognized by the professor as such a great student!

Hey guys! I'm officially done A&P1!! I haven't received my exam or lab exam marks yet but they're done and all I have to do is wait.

I was so scared of the lab exam because last semester's average was 5 out of 15 (and it's worth 15% of our final grade!) but I think it went really well-

Our class has shrunk too- but not at the rate that you guys are reporting!! good job to everybody who's doing well in the course- I don't care how smart you are you have to WORK for the grades in this class! Nothing comes easily!

just a question to all of you

what were/are some tricks that helped you remember? I like using word games, acronyms, etc.

AND congrats to those who survived and passed:yeah:

To me the number 1 method of remebering the material was the firstly understand it. Then I memorize.

I am very excited to say I got a 98 on my muscle practical and a 82 on my lecture test. Im so happy.:yeah:
