Hi y'all! Anybody taking A&P 1 this coming spring semester? I'm trying to get as many pre-req's out of the way as possible and could use a study buddy or 2! Thanks! :)
I have attached my Respiratory notes to this note. All of my AP notes are on this AP I and AP II sticky, somewhere, LOL. I hope these help ya, they have a few others. GOOD LUCK
please help!! anyone have notes or any helpful sites for respiration!!??Thanks so much!!
I got my 2nd test (bones) results back and i got an A+ on both my lab and lecture test.So im very happy about that,i have 2 more to go.
My 3rd lecture and lab test are in 2 weeks and it will be on the muscles and joints ,i find this chapter so much harder:barf02: and i have'nt started memorizing the names of muscles yet. The physiology part is tough . So far i just keep reading taking my time to understand what i am reading, just memorizing doesnt work for me . I do well when i know what i am writting about and i understand the material.
Anyone have any extra tips on how to master this chapter?i would really appreciate your help.:)

Congrats on your awesome grades!!! I am in the same boat as you with muscles...the easiest way I've found to understand them is to try and memorize the names and body location but not the origin/insertion/action, because if you know where they are, and you remember that muscles can only contract, you have a fair idea of where they originate and insert, and therefore which action they will produce. For instance, you know that your gastrocnemius and soleus (sp?...clearly I haven't started hardcore memorizing these names yet:uhoh3:) muscles are in your calf region, you can deduce that when they contract, they will produce plantar flexion. Contract your own muscles and see what actions are produced.
As for joints, we already had our lecture and lab tests and I did pretty well by breaking them down into structural and functional classes, and then memorizing the joint names for each section. For the diarthroses - synovial joints, the names of each joint should help you remember the action. Take the hinge joint, it's going to produce the same motion as say, the hinge on your car door. It will flex and extend in one direction, but can't go side to side or flex in both directions. Also, just looking at the structure of joints will help...if it doesn't look like it will move, it probably won't. I hope this helps and good luck!!!
Oh my Lord, I HATE muscles. I have been trying to learn the origins, insertions, and actions for eons and just when I think I have it down, I confuse myself and feel like I'm starting all over again. Anybody else feel this way?
OMG!!!! YES!!!! The muscles are confusing me:banghead:!!!! I have my 2nd lab Practical This Thursday on the cat muscles, the sheep brain, the eye, & the ear I am stressing out really bad over this test I do not want to fail:(!!!! I wish you the best of luck, let me know if you need any help & maybe I can you ok:saint:!!!!
thanks so much for your encouragement guys!
I think the exam went really well. It took me almost 3 hours to finish (which was max time), but I think the majority of the exam went smoothly. Now I only have the lab exam left!
Good luck to everybody!!
PS I hate muscle insertion and origin too. Gah- there are just too many of them.
