For those of you who have completed A&P I do you think it would be a difficult class to do online vs. the classroom? I could do either option, but I'm swaying towards online since I wouldn't have to go to a classroom at a set time, which would free up my schedule some (I have a full time and part time job). I haven't taken any science classes since finishing my undergrad work 4 years ago and I was concerned the material may be too complex to comprehend without an in-person instructor. Thoughts and experiences?

You may not care about my opinion since I havn't yet taken a&p, but here's my anyway. Lab classes can be (not for everyone of course) difficult to understand and having a "live person" there to ask questions to really helps. I'm taking chem right now and while the labs aren't that useful (although a&p should be more useful with labs), the time spent working on them in the classroom is. We do problems with our labs that relate to tests and I usually ask at least one question per lab period, and usually one during lecture as well. These are things i can't figure out by reading my textbook or my study solver book.
At the same time, I'm taking an algerbra telecourse. I have not found the need to ask questions of an instructor for this and am having no troubles. It depends alot on your learning style and how difficult it might be for you to learn the material.

I'm currently taking A&P1 online through Tennessee Board of Regents. I wouldn't do it again during a summer semester and I wouldn't take Statistics at the same time. I would take A&P again online but only if I was taking it by itself or with only one other (easy) class.

I took 1 in class and 2 online. I'd recommend in class personally.

I 100% say take it in class. There is nothing like hands on learning...and a variety of learning for that matter. The ENTIRE time I was taking the class I was thinking "I have NO idea how people do this online". I just finished it yesterday, by the way.

I took both semesters of A & P online, but with a show-up-in-person lab (which I scheduled at night). You have to determine your preferred learning style and your daily schedule to know what will work for you. For me, reading the book wins hands-down over having to leave work early to listen to a lecture. But I had a strong science background going into the classes. Just keep in mind that in an online class you are essentially teaching it to yourself. Good luck either way.

I took A&P online. The materials were thorough, and the professor was very available, which was helpful. If you haven't taken an online class before, it takes much more discipline than you might think. Its very easy to get "off schedule". If you set a time to do it a few times a week (like you would in a normal class), you should be fine.
Good Luck!

I did A&P in the classroom. My teacher was able to help explain the anatomy with the models in lab, and explain how the physiology worked with good examples in lecture. I think that really helped me grasp the concepts in the long run, and I was able to get an A. Just my

I have taken quite a few pre-reqs online and like the flexibility.
But as far as A&P, I see that only one person had a "live person" lab, what about others? I ask because none of the nursing programs around here will accept A&P without a lab. AND some are now requiring cadaver anatomy. (both ADN and BSN) Am I missing something?
I would say that it depends on the actual online A&P class. My A&P class does have a lab component. Some labs are done in my kitchen and others are done through a program called Interactive Physiology.
My transcript will say A&P just like the traditional students. My nursing degree will be from the same school even though I won't attend classes there.
Sure, I didn't get to touch the model when I was learning muscles or skeleton during bones but I had pictures that labeled the parts. I didn't have a teacher talking about them, I had a powerpoint presentation. So I had to learn them on my own, it's harder but it's still learning them. I did miss some of the extras that teachers add to help you learn but I get that from my lectures that I downloaded from Itunes. According to Ratemyprofessor, he's a hard teacher but I love his lectures. He's quirky and I remember his voice while I'm taking my test.
We have 6 lecture tests, 4 lab tests, 2 quizzes, and 4 lab assignments. This is the same program the original poster is considering.
Cool! @home lab! Yea, I'd probably have missed the models too. Time management is key with online classes. You can't let things stack up.

hello everyone!!! i would honestly say..take the anatomy class in the classroom. i took basic anatomy under a great teacher and i made an a, so i was like ok, i can take a&p i online...biggest mistake of my life. first, when you email your professor, u have to wait until they get back to you and it can take a couple of days. the test were horrible, the study guide that the professor provided..i might as well had burned them...lol...i ended up with a "d" in the class, i worked my butt off, but anyways im retaking a&p i with the professor i had when i took the basic anatomy...but in the end its totally up to you and what you are comfortable with. bye for now!!
