A & P 1- online or classroom?

Published

For those of you who have completed A&P I do you think it would be a difficult class to do online vs. the classroom? I could do either option, but I'm swaying towards online since I wouldn't have to go to a classroom at a set time, which would free up my schedule some (I have a full time and part time job). I haven't taken any science classes since finishing my undergrad work 4 years ago and I was concerned the material may be too complex to comprehend without an in-person instructor. Thoughts and experiences?

It really just depends on how organized and discplined you are and what your learning style is. I am a mostly auditory learner, so having lectures in class and the chance to ask verbal questions is very valuable to me. Others learn in different ways and I do use online resources that have been posted here and given to me through my college to support what I learn in class.

A&P is an intense class with a TON of information. In my opinion it is not so much difficult as it is just plain massive. Its not hard to understand, there's just a lot to learn and remember in a relatively short amount of time. If you are easily overwhelmed, confused or frustrated I would recommend taking it in a classroom setting. If you don't have beyond superior time management skills, I would recommend you take it in a classroom. If any part of you feels doubtful I would recommend you take it in a classroom. Getting an A in A&P is a requirement for some nursing schools and getting less than that can really drag down your GPA.

If you don't have trouble with focus, concentration, time management, organization and rote memorization...if those are ALL strong points for you...then I think an online class will probably work out okay. Otherwise, no way.

I took A&P I online and made an A. However, I did take Basic A&P prior to that in a traditional classroom setting, so I'm sure that helped tremendously.

Like others have said, it really depends on your learning style/preferences and your instructor. My online course DID have a lab component that required a campus visit once a week. My instructor was also incredibly helpful and provided us with powerpoint presentations and review questions for the lecture portion.

It is a lot of material to cover, but it can be done if you stay on top of things and don't let yourself fall behind.

take it in class. i was never a online learner. felt less motivated and slacked off. a&p is hard, but it does depend on your learning style. if you dont mind siting in class take the class. at least if you need help you got other classmates and the instructor to assist you. good luck.

hello everyone!!! i would honestly say..take the anatomy class in the classroom. i took basic anatomy under a great teacher and i made an a, so i was like ok, i can take a&p i online...biggest mistake of my life. first, when you email your professor, u have to wait until they get back to you and it can take a couple of days. the test were horrible, the study guide that the professor provided..i might as well had burned them...lol...i ended up with a "d" in the class, i worked my butt off, but anyways im retaking a&p i with the professor i had when i took the basic anatomy...but in the end its totally up to you and what you are comfortable with. bye for now!!

i had the same problem with online classes. it is not like you can chat with the professor or call them in real time. so if you do have a problem it is harder to contact anyone if your taking an online course.

classroom all the way!!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I decided to take it online- the same class dee78 took. I know it will take some time management and dedication. It is the best choice for me right now, with my schedule and commitments.

I have taken both A&P classes in a classroom and I could honestly say I don't think I would of done well taking the classes online. I would take it in a classroom setting. There are classes that would be OK taking online but, I don't think this is one of them.
