A&P Online... ?

Has anyone taken A&P online? I'm looking to start (or at least apply for) the nursing program at Lord Fairfax CC, NOVCC, or George Mason in 2009 and the classes that would help the most are A&P I&II. NOVCC offers both completely online - though I could also take them as resident courses. I'm finishing my BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics right now but A&P were the only natural sciences I hadn't taken. I've taken online classes before so I'm used to the format. Does anyone have any recommendations? I think the biggest advantage would be that I could condense the class into 8 week formats.

MOst of the schools I applied to will not accept online a & P unless the lab is in person. good luck

I'm taking ANP 102 online right now through Ivy Tech in Indiana. Not sure if you'd be able to take it through them being out of state and all. Our labs are mostly computerized, but we also had to have fetal pigs shipped to our houses. I like the computerized labs, but I *hate* having to teach myself all of the lecture material. I honestly don't feel like I'm learning nearly as much as I did last semester taking ANP 101 in the classroom.

I'm taking ANP 1 now at Clovis and having the same problem of not liking teaching myself the lectures. I wish they were at least taped classes... I need another voice explaining things... I need at least someone pronouncing the words for me initially. How are you getting around teaching yourself?? I am just confused on what he wants us to study for on the test, so I study everything and its way time consuming when I can use that time on other things. :banghead:

I am a decade older than you and am amazed that A&P can even be done online. I have not done it, but I wouldn't hesitate. If NOVCC offers it, I assume they would accept it, but I would check anyway to make sure the other colleges you are interested in would do so. Get it in writing.

Since you are familiar with online classes, you know that much of your success depends on your own time management and discipline.

I attended GMU nursing school many years ago when I was 20. I changed my major to English and am now doing nursing almost 20 years later. (but not at GMU) NOVCC seems to have a nice program. Very progressive with all the online options.

By any chance if you do the NOVCC online nursing school option, please post about it. I would be interested in how it is run and how you like it.

I'm taking A&P online right now, too. I had my first test last week and scored an 84. I got an 85 on my first lab quiz. We can compare ourselves to the rest of the class though we don't know individual grades. The class average is 77.6 so I feel a little better.

I have lecture notes and powerpoints for each chapter. I read through them and make notes. I also read through the book. I will probably focus more on that this time because I used various websites for help and missed a few things that weren't even mentioned on the other websites. There is just so much information to learn and so little time. It's test after test and it's really hard to keep up. I'm also taking Statistics online so that's two very hard and demanding classes at the same time.

But I figure it's preparing me for my nursing program. I'm doing it all online with clinicals at the local hospital and labs at the college. I'm taking a CNA class online this fall, then RN starting next fall.

To have some semblance of a lecture, I listen to a podcasts of different anatomy and physiology 102 classes.

check with your college to see if they accept online science courses with labs. (that is what i did) try Rio Salado College

Good Luck!

:no: Im also taking Anatomy 1 at clovis, but I haven't received my book.

They say by the 26th is there some way I can get a book sooner?
