A&P II: The Summer '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Hang in there girl:) I am sure you will do fine...try to take a few pages/notes at a time and then take a break..before you move on do a quick review of those pages/notes.

Last semester I was a paranoid mess before my cumulative A+PI final. ( I remember going back it was like I haD NEVER studied spinal tracks/nerves/ect- ha ha)..but I only got 2 wrong out of 100! You HAVE retained more than you think you have...

OK! A&P 2 starts tomorrow!

I've read over the digestive & most of the cardio system in our lecture/lab manual. I'm ready for class tomorrow. lol

Good luck to all of those just starting.....

It will be a long, but too quick, tough 5 weeks!

I don't know what it is, but I am enjoying A&P 2 SO much more than I did A&P 1! Maybe it's just that I was a bit overwhelmed in 1, and have learned how to study and stay on top of everything by now...I don't know. Everything just seems so much more interesting in A&P 2. Am I crazy, or does anyone else feel this way?

I totally agree with you. I LOVE A+P 2. I guess A+P I was more fundamentals and in A+2 it really comes together as how everything we learned...now works.

I actually am going to be sad when A+P 2 is over. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and am extremely interested in it. I have to go take Micro next( fall)...I have the supplements and *I know* I have to wait until classtime but I will be honest...just looking over them I have to groan....it seems so BLAH compared to A+P.

I was discussing A+P in my interview today...I talked with a complete passion about how I love this class.....my interviewer( sp?) and I had a great discussion about it....he was really thrilled at how much I knew/know...he said so himself:)

I feel the complete opposite! I was on top of everything in A&PI. I studied, read all the chapters, and took my book EVERYWHERE. I loved it. Now Im like "When will it be over? :crying2: " I study but not like I was in A&PI and Im not finding anything extremely interesting. Maybe Im burnt out from busting my butt for the first 5 weeks or maybe Im just excited that I start NS next month. :rolleyes: Then again my professor doesnt quite teach he just reads off the powerpoint presentation and if we ask questions and its not in the book he says i dont know or it wont be on the test. This is the middle of my third week of five weeks and it just doesnt seem to interesting........maybe itll get better within the next week :)

I think it's because you have had no break. I finished A+P 1 with a 101% and I was BRAIN FRIED lol.... I had 2 1/2 weeks off in between and so when I came into A+P2 I was semi- refreshed.

I have 4 weeks left and I am starting to feel that " come on be over already" feeling come back. I think it's because I have a test a week basically now and I'm a little stressed:). However, material wise I think it's a lot more interesting....I'm much more interested in how our organs work and illnesses as opposed to what freaking tissues are in them if you know what I mean..ha ha ha.

At least now when we talk about " contraction" of something I already know what occurs...don't have to painstakingly think about the steps of sliding filament or what ions are present...:)

I have to say though that my lab teacher is starting to crack me up daily. Everytime he talks about " cilia" or " brush border" or "villi" he throws his arm up, grabs it with his other arm and wiggles his fingers back and forth as he moves his arm up towards the sky " They are like fingers,,,you see...fingers...the movement..the fingers....".. the guy is certifiable but at least I have a humor break once a day.

Speaking of wanting to be done( and yet not done because I love A+P!)

I have to pick a topic for a case study. In A+PI I did Keratosis Pilaris ( Integumentary) and now I have to pick one for Cardiovascular/Digestive/Blood/Immune/Lymphatic/Respiratory/Urinary/Reproductive. Literally like millions of choices and I uhhhhhh..can't seem to pick one to save my life. I have to turn in my slip tomorrow saying what it will be on...it's due the 26th. Everytime I pick something I go " noooo not that". ha ha ha. I picked KP for A+PI becasue my son has it....I have gone from leukemia to endometrosis to mitral valve prolapse....I swear I will probably literally scribble something down IN lab tomorrow before he calls my name. Why am I having such a problem with this.???? ha ha...

Me too!! I finished A&PI with an A. We are great..... :chuckle Im counting down my days to be done class....started out with 20 classes to endure and I have 9 more to go not including tonights torture. I too am enjoying what Im learning but yes I am burnt out and the brain is on vacation due to my lack of break.

Well good luck with your tests and keep me posted......2 1/1 weeks to go.....it seems like it goes by so fast!!!!

Probably because like you said everything is more interesting now, so you dont want to pick one topic and miss out on learning about another amazing topic. I personally would do the mitral valve prolapse if I were you but Im not!! Then again my professor works in a lab at university of penn during the day then comes to read slides to us at nite so he could care less about papers and reports :chuckle We have never had an open ended question on any of our tests.

Question for the A&P I and II people... What is the breakdown there? In my school we do Anatomy first and then Physiology. Meaning we went ALL the way through the book learning all the anatomy first and THEN you go back and do the whole book again learning the Physio the next semester (or however you do it). I didn't care for it much because the instructors were forever saying "OH wait did you learn this in anatomy?" or "Oh don't worry you'll get that in physiology." I think they were as confused as we were!

Just curious as to what the division is in the A&P I & II situation....

A+P is both at the same time. IN A+PI I did Histology, Integumentary, Central Nervous System, PNS+ANS, Spinal Nerves + Tracts,Special Senses, Muscular, Skeletal, and Endocrine.

A+P II for me is Cardiovascular, Blood, Immune, Lymphatic, Digestive, Respiratory, Urinary, Fluid/Electrolyetes/ Reproductive.

I really don't see why a school would split A+P into Anatomy and THEN physiology..it just makes more sense to me to learn the anatomy + physiology of something at the same time.

That's what I thought too.. the only reason I can figure that they do it this way is so that you can move from CC to CC without losing information along the way (since Anatomy is Anatomy wherever you go). The ONLY upside to doing it that way is that when I took Physio, since my anatomy teacher was very comprehensive, it was much easier than I thought.... I had seen most of it already!
