I have taken many online classes BUT in my personal opinion, you would be doing yourself an injustice taking it online. A&P is a big part of nursing, I think missing the hands on experience, the models, slides, interaction, lab environment, etc that the classroom brings in this instance will make things harder for you in the long run.
Has anyone taken A&P II online at Ivy Tech, I am taking A&P I right now and want to take 2 in the fall but may be moving in the fall so online would work better for me. Just wanted to know how hard it is and if online is doable?? Thanks:D:coollook::bowingpur
I think that an online A&P class would be okay if you attend the labs in a classroom setting. However, I know for the program I am applying for they want your classes to come from a strong science school or at least an in-class setting (for science/math courses). You would also probably get more out of the class if you take it in person. However, if online is what you have to/need to do you should do it.
Though I personally haven't enjoyed any of my online classes as much as my actual classroom settings, I do understand you have to do what you have to do. I chose to post to this discussion because my A&P I teacher did NOT teach! It was so disappointing, but true. Equally, his tests were so hard and extremely cumulative. Therefore, I read that book COVER TO COVER, for all the chapters we covered, roughly 16, between 1-22 (skipped a few).
That was actually amazing. Though, with tricky topics like ATP: Sodium & Potassium, Diffusion, etc, I read those 500 times over and over again. The only benefit to all of this was it made me want to one day teach A&P if I ever get bored with what I'm doing, because I love the subject and wasn't really bias to anything from a teacher because I truly was not taught!
I recommend you "do what you have to do" if you can read read read, and (no joke) buy 20 highlighters, and use them! Read each chapter 3 times, and then reread the hard concepts 2 more times each.
Good luck, and do not be scarred! You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to! Just pep talk yourself: "I'm going to pass this class!"
