Hi all,
I need some advise/opinions, which would you take in a 10 wk summer class A&P II or Microbiology. Which in your opinion would be easier to handle in a short 10 week session by itself?
Thanks in advance

DEFINITELY Microbiology! But maybe that's just me? I actually liked Microbiology and was not a fan of Anatomy, mainly because of the lab, I think....not a fan of dead cats or sheep brains and eyeballs!
Microbiology lab was fun though!

Well, I actually don't think we'll be working with anything real in the lab for A&P II because they have a website with a cat and I think a pig but no real hands on there. I'm just trying to figure out which class would be harder to take in such a short time. Thanks for replying, I appreciate your opinion

Im taking both now in a 10 week session. APII would be easier, especially online.

I haven't taken Micro yet but am taking APII right now in an 8 week format and seem to be doing pretty well with it. Easy is pretty subjective to you personally though but I am actually finding APII easier than API was. But of course that just me. I am mixing it with an Algebra 10 week course so I'm a bit nuts right now.
Yes, you're right it is subjective. I just finished biology last semester and after being out of school for over 20 yrs I was startled at how fast the teacher was going. I had 2 other classes as well and I found myself at times working like a demon to keep up with it all. I made out better than I expected and I'm glad but I think I may do very well if I only have one class to immerse myself in. It also makes it easier when you love the subject.
If you don't mind my asking, how many chapters do you complete a week in your APII class? Also, do you have to memorize more stuff?
Thanks for your reply

I did A&P II in the Spring, and I just finished a summer Microbiology course. If I had to pick one of them to do in the summer, it would definitely be Micro. It is still tons of information, but it seemed like less memorization and less reading than A&P. It did help that Micro is absolutely one of the most interesting courses I have ever taken! That made the work seem less work-like. :chuckle

I hope you do well in your 10 week! Me, I'm going to be cramming A&PI into a 5 week summer course!
Ouch! I honestly don't think I could handle that. My biology teacher (she also teaches A&P I) told me most people in her online A&P class were failing or dropping and still she asked why don't you take my 5 wk A&P class! I said thanks but no thanks! I hope you do well, keep us posted!

Again, it is all up to what you like the best and how well you learn. I would definitely take A&P II as opposed to Micro (I actually took both together along with Psych during the fall semester) because my particular Micro class was full of memorization, not to mention lab being 2x a week. I do know that summer classes here for Micro are 5x a week with 3 hours for lecture and 4x a week with 3 hours for lab. Of course, that is for a 5 week course. Don't know what a 10 week would consist of, but it was more for Micro than for A&P II.

I'd do A&P. If you have a cumulative final you will be less likely to forget the massive amounts of memorization required in 10 weeks than 15 weeks. I took A&PII in a summer session and found it was easier to be immersed in that particular class then to spread it out in a normal semester. In our 10 week session we had lab 2 nights a week instead of the normal 1. That really helps in A&P because of how killer the lab is. You have to be exposed to the information multiple times.
