Anyone else taking it this fall? I start tomorrow! We are beginning with the endocrine system. After taking A&P I over the summer, the syllabus for the fall term looks leisurely! :chuckle

i wish we were all working on the same topics at the same time!!! ha...well in my AP 2 we're covered the blood so far...i found the blood easy...i guess because its more interesting......we will be hitting muscles next...uuggh...i am really not look forward to that...there are sooo many.....

we had our first lab, and we had to dissect a sheeps eye...not bad...my professor gives us a quiz after each lab....we will start on the cat in a few weeks.....someone posted a link for cat dissection, so i've been using that to start preparing....i'm just not looking forward to skinning the kittty...

we also will be doing the endocrine soon- anything stand out for you that you'd like to share?

we are just starting on the blood. well i should say we will be starting it on tuesday..lol.

so you'll be starting on muscles? that's so different from how our school teaches. we actually had muscles in a&p 1. it's a lot of information. do you have to know insertions and origins as well? i actually got lucky over the summer when i took a&p 1. our teacher informed us that we wouldn't have to know the insertions and origins but everything else we would be responsible for...lol. good luck with muscles.

as for the endocrine system. the easiest way to try and get things figured out and in order is to draw them out. from the hypothalamus - what hormones go to the anterior and the posterior part of the pituitary - and then what hormones from there go to which targeted organs.

if you do like a "family tree" style thingy...lol...it helps. i don't know how else to explain it..lol. good luck to you!!!

hi allieinaz/everyone!!

i dont' know exactly what well need to know for muscles...in fact my ap2 professor is only teaching it, because everyone who had my ap1 professor, did not study the muscles....and we need to know if for lab....so i think that why shes giving it to us....to help us with our lab....i know your going to find the blood much easier than endocrine...trust me!!! but keep me posted!!!...

im also taking bio-statistics...did you take that already? anyone here take stats already? if so what was your experience?

Bio-statistics sounds hard...lol. I haven't taken it yet but they are putting that as part of the nursing program here I believe. I have my application in for the ADN program. They have a bridge program called the alliance thru ASU that will be a cheaper route for me.

You'll have to let me know how the class is going. Just the name of it stresses me out..lol.

Welp, I studied like a mad woman last night to finish up the endocrine system. I believe I have got it down but we shall see when test time comes around.

Do any of you use blackboard thru your school? Our A&P class uses the blackboard for assignments and notes, etc. The only thing i like on there is that the exam scores gets posted right away..lol.

Hi! new to allnurses.....very great site. I am currently in a&p2! it is going well so far. I have a quiz over the veins tomorrow!! We are having our 2nd exam next Thursday over the heart & blood vessels! chapters 18 & 19 in 7th edition Anatomy & Physiology by Elaine N. Marieb! I would love any tips and love love to participate in this study group! ;)

Hey there all,

Just got done taking my first exam for the class on the endcrine system and blood.

I think I did pretty well. I'm hoping that she'll have them graded by next class. I hate waiting to find out how i did...lol

I asked her if she is going to be putting it up on blackboard and she stated that once she has them corrected "hopefully by next week" she'll post them on there.....ugh ugh ugh.....

Can ya tell i'm impatient?? lol

Next we are starting on the cardiovascular system. Which i'm excited about because i'm thinking about going into this specialty...we'll see.

I am taking A&P II this fall too. I took A&P I in the summer over 6 weeks and I am looking forward to taking this one over a longer semester. My instructor has been wonderful so far. He is an older guy and his wife is his lab asst (also a RN). He even said on the first day of class that if we had an emergercy and couldn't find day care for our kids that we could bring them to class!! We had one lecture exam so far and he did a review of every question right before the test and I got a 98%. :yeah: Hopefully he does that for all of his exams. And his wife graded the exams while we were on break so we got our scores back right away, which I loved. Last semester our instructor took forever to get them back to us and they were scantrons.

Wow, I would be upset if someone was allowed to bring their kids to class. I am amazed he said that. Its not just about the student with childcare issues, its about the whole rest of the class who suddenly now have a childcare issue too. I have kids myself. I just assume it is my own job to make sure they are cared for on school nights and if I get in a pinch it is my own job to solve it. If I go to that effort and someone else doesn't and it affects my class time, I would not react very well to that. I am paying for that class too and included in my tuition is a good learning environment. Children are a distraction.

We have not had our first exam yet. I hate it that it is so far into the semester before we even get to the first one. And my lab practical and first exam are going to fall on the same day, which kind of sucks. But I have been acing my quiz grades and did well on my first lab report. I am ready to get to test time, just to find out how this professor does her exams if nothing else.

i know what you mean about having an exam so late into the semester! the exam we just took on thursday is a month later from the 1st day of class. i mean it's nice to have detailed information but that just means everything else is going to feel like it's rushed!

i'm sorry that you are going to have your lab and lec on the same day. very frustrating to have that. it's too much info for this class.

We do not have our first exam until next Friday, Sept. 26 and we started school on Aug. 25. We were suppose to have it last Monday, but she was not half way through the material yet. I do not mind as she is doing a great job of teaching the material. It is just hard after taking a five week summer session in A&P I because now the pace is so slow.

AlliAZ, did you get your grade yet on your first exam?

Unfortunately I haven't received my grade yet. I've been checking blackboard like crazy too...lol.

Hopefully we'll hear something on Tuesday because now i'm doubting my grade...
