A&P I Spring 2013

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I did not see another thread, so I thought I would start one for fellow students to chat and get support. Anyone else taking A&P I this spring?

You said that you are worried about the clavicle naming right from left. If I remember correctly the "sternal end" goes toward to sternum. The acromial end goes on the outside. Therefore, if you know the difference you should be fine. Although you can't pick them up (which is crazy) you can move your own body around and try to imagine where it would be on you...if that makes sense. Good luck.

Thanks! That was helpful, I think I got too caught up in what should curve in what direction, the shape versus the structures. It finally clicked during studying, but definitely frustrating for a while.

Of course after all that, I think the scapula and femur were the only two we were even asked about in a directional sense, so all that worrying was for nothing... But hey, it's good to know and understand even when it's not on the test.

I bombed my first A&P test with a 63%. It's a bit discouraging, but hopefully I can still pull up my grade to an A. We're on bones now, so lots more memorization.

In April we start muscles and we have to work with cadavers. Not cutting them, but examining. Anyone have any tips for dealing with that?

Omg! I got a 66%. :( We are on bones also and we have our pratical monday. ? I'm so nervous. Good luck!

What is your method of studying the bones? Just curious. Lol

It's been awhile. I have my bones test on monday. We learned ALL the bones (all 206) and then the features of each bone. It was SO much to remember but I finally feel in my element, memorization!! Yes! Hoping for a 100% on this test!

I made powerpoints with pictures of each bone and then drew lines to the nes I needed to remember so I jst quiz myself constantly. I also bought the Barrons Anatomy Flash Cards. The are helpful, but I think will be more helpful for muscles and the various systems of the body.

@sergel02, I'm SO excited for my cadaver days!! I can't wait, so obviously I don't have to find a way to "deal" with it. I just want to be elbow deep in a body already.

You're funny!!!!!! I agree. I'm SUPER excited about the cat dissection :-D you WILL ace the bones, I know it. I have the Kaplan flash cards and agree as well that they're good but I think will be most beneficial for muscles and such. I just love anatomy :-)

I also bombed my first test with a "D" on bones haha. It's pretty easy, just go over the material at least 10 times and guaranteed you will get A+. Print out an empty label picture of the bone and write in the labels.

Last week of Anatomy class now and am borderline A so don't give up. First test always a ***.

I got a low C on my integumentary system test! Don't feel defeated with a D. Then we had a quiz on the bones today and I got a 96% (the test is monday!) Things happen and sometimes it's just a matter of preparing incorrectly. Spot your mistakes, get support from professors, tutors other students, and work it out!

Just lots of memorization haha. There are tools online to help luckily. The functions are pretty easy for me, just all the names, especially in the skull.

Hopefully i do better on the other tests. I took A&P back in high school and it was the same thing, got a C on the first test then did better on the others. Would have gotten an A in the class had I done more of my hw lol.

Got 102 on my lab midterm, thought I might have missed one or two but guess not! Onto muscles... :S

Yeah, I can tell this next section is going to be more difficult than the ones before combined. Really anxious about it!
