Sounds like you are doing fairly well in the class! Poor you on feeling terrible at the same time as studying and taking classes!! I hope you are feeling better soon!I am going into week 7 anatomy.I made a 85% on the first lab pratical, and a 71% on lecture.I have a 78% in the class right now.I have a 3.9 GPA and this class is really testing my dedication to becoming a nurse!Ever since I was a child I knew this is what I wanted. The last two weeks I have been in and out of the doctors. My hemoglobin was at 7.0 .I am falling behind.Im trying to understand chapter 9 Martini.Boy..it's boring!!!:uhoh21:
I have lost my motivation. My husband has done everything from cooking to cleaning to help me.
Any suggestions on catching up with the reading?I need to have chapters 9,13,14 done by Monday night. We have 3 chapters in the CNS this week.
I have to get at least a B in this class to apply.I really want an A.
I want it..just feeling a little low..
Good old dh! Take advantage of the help and just let the rest slide. You can do this!
Re the reading, I would look through what is in it -- physically look at every page to get an overview, paying attention to headings. Then go back and skim and take notes that way. Just plug away at it and don't worry if you don't get it all read thoroughly. Do you have good review questions in your text or anywhere? You can learn a lot from going through a few pages of those, looking up answers as you go. If there are diagrams, study from those and look up what you don't understand.
Chin up and carry on! An A is within your reach!
http://www.meddean.luc.edu/lumen/meded/grossanatomy/dissector/mml/index.htmCan anyone tell me where I can find pictures of good Muscles to review?
Did you try this one? There is a long list at the beginning post of this thread .. surely one of them has a good section on muscles! Good luck!!
Took my Midterm lab practical today. 202 questions in all, lots of stuff on the bones. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be though. I'll let you guys know how I did as soon as I find out. Oh, we were the last class to take ours, some other teachers had grades posted, I saw a grade of 105! I need to study with that person. LOL
Well, we had our first lab practical today. It wasn't too bad. But I think I missed 2 for sure. Which I hope are the only 2 because we only had 50 questions, and to get an A, I can only miss 2.
So, I need your opinions:
There was a question that asked about the visceral pluera (that was the answer) and I put visceral pleural.
So, do you think they will mark it wrong for that?
Also, another one asked "what is the membrane that folds and holds the organs in the abdominal area?"
I answered, "visceral peritoneum"
Then when I looked it up in my book, it said the "serous membranes" fold and line the organs, but later on it said the visceral and parietal peritoneum line the abdominal organs.
So, I'm guessing I got that one wrong too. What do you think?
Thanks
What's up for A&P this weekend?I am finishing reading the chapter on the Integumentary system and then trying to do some review on the other chapters we have already covered and prepare for the lab I didn't finish last week on histology. My friend and I are going in for several extra hours in the lab this week and hopefully I'll feel a little more comfortable and no more headaches!
I'm not sure when I'm supposed to get to my other courses!!
I am just buttin' in here but can't resist...... We finished skin today and discussed those yucky mites that crawl into your hairfollicles and sebaceous glands etc. Yuck!!!! gives you the creeps :rotfl:

For the first question my teacher would probably give half credit because you only misspelled one word. On the second one from what I understand if referring to organs it's always visceral, and when reffering to cavities/ walls it's always parietal. I would have put visceral peritoneum too. I hate the way the wording in some of those questions are, it can really make you second guess yourself. Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for your A!!!!
Mayday mayday system overload!!!
I have a midterm in another course on Thursday and a chapter to read for A&P for tomorrow a.m., plus 3 sections in the lab manual for Thursday afternoon.
I'm sure people out there have worse but just had to whine for a minute! LOL ..... to top it off, it's very much more enjoyable to read the A&P material because our other prof told us for the midterm to just know gerneral concepts .. she so flighty that who really knows what that means .... so I have about 7 long boring chapters to review and know the "general concepts" .... boo hiss ....... :icon_roll I don't feel THAT panicky at the moment but I know I will tomorrow night when I'm studying for "general concepts" and also trying to get ready for my lab.

Thanks for the support. I have been second guessing myself all night!!! The question about the abdominal organs was a tricky one. Do they have fun with this stuff or what?
I think they must be having a blast with these questions, especially when they are timed and you are already nervous to begin with. geesh...
It's nice to know what others would have put for the answers, it makes me feel a little better.
Thanks again
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!!
We had our first lecture exam last night. I have been studying the lecture outline he gave us. I have taken notes. I highlighted everything he said, "make sure you know this it will be on the test." I typed up my notes, I read the chapters twice and took notes, I made up note cards. Multiple choice part, I breeze through. Fill in answer part.... what??? With 4 chapters worth of information he had to test us on. He whips up some obscure question about molarity, without giving us the periodic table or anything. We were just supposed to remember the molarity of some compound he wrote on the board durign the 2nd week of class as an example. Then he gave us an 4 point question pertaining to some experiment that he talked about in class a couple weeks ago when we were going over the plasma membrane. Something about an experiment that proves that phospholipids move laterally around their bilayer. He asked another question on another one of his ancedotal stories that I happened to recall. He is a really nice guy, but seriously, he rambles off on tangents, and ancedotes and stories. If we wrote down every side bar he mentions- we would be writing our own text books. Then he barely touched on maybe half the stuff he said was going to be on the test. And there was a ton of stuff he gave us to study that he could have tested us on but didn't.
I feel so frustrated and angry. I have given up hours and hours of my life to study for this test. I gave up going out with hubby on a date this weekend. I don't mind doing the work required for my classes. I work hard. But I feel like it is so unfair to sideswipe us trifling nonsense when there is such an avalanche of information we have to learn in that class. i'm beginning to wonder what the point of testing is. Is it really to see if we are learning, or is it to punish us for being students.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had a dream that we were taking our practical and we were all confused becuse the stations kept moving without warning, and the instructors were in the back of the room laughing like doctor evil doing the pinky thing. Weird. LOL

Ugh, that's awful. That fill in the blank part was very random. You studied alot, so even with that you should do well. I would speak to the teacher and mention that you were not aware that the side strories (rambling) would be testable, and could he give a "Heads up" in the future. If the teacher doesn't sympathize I'd recommend using a voice recorder, that way you can listed to the lecture at home and wright down all the random stuff that's not in the text. I hope things go well.
