A&P 1 Fall '06 Club!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Just wanted to start a "club" for those of us who are taking A&P 1 this fall.

My class is 16 weeks. I have lecture on M/W/F for one hour each day and lab on Tues for 3 hrs.

My teacher for lecture & lab (same person) is awesome! She gives us a weekly quiz, drops the lowest one. Gives us extra credit. Four major tests. Final is comprehensive. (Ick)

She gave us handouts for chapter 1 and we just fill in what we want as she pretty much has everything she wants in these handouts. She told us we don't have to bring our big, heavy book to class - she'd tell us page numbers of tables, pictures she wanted us to know. As a matter of fact - she said we don't have to use the book that was sold to us for this semester. She said we could use any book like Saladin, etc., and make copies if any diagram, table is different. Pretty nice there.

Okie dokie - who else?

WOW thanks for the link Jezziemis!!

no problem... be sure you check out the animations and tutorials... also if you go to the schedule and weekly activities link there are some AWESOME study tools and chapter outlines... she made these chapter outlines from two books (Marieb and Tortora)

Well Hello! Yes...I am in A&P I this semester as well!! (Along with Microbiology & Math...yikes!) I have Micro M/W lecture/lab combo. and A&P T/TH lecture on T and lecture & lab on TH! So, I believe this will be very helpful for us all!! This is going to be a long semester!!

I had my first and only meeting of A&P I on Monday. I had to take it online, as the live section filled up first, but apparently it's exactly the same class. He videoed all of his lectures a couple of semesters ago, so we watch them on the computer. That's actually kind of neat - no need to invest in a tape recorder yet, and you can stop and rewind as you go if you miss something. What worried me is that there is no lab. We do a "virtual lab" which I think means memorizing diagrams. We had cadavers at my old school (lost in Katrina), and I figured every school would make you disssect something...well, enough procrastinating, I have my other class (Devel. Psych) later today, and must get back to studying while I'm not at work either.

MMW37 - online lab as well?! WOW - that is something I've never heard of. Let me know how that goes - you know, a couple weeks in to this. Also very sorry to hear you're a victim of Katrina.

In our lab, we covered like 5 chapters I think. Thankfully, most is a review for me but OYI!! would I feel overwhelmed if I was new to all of this. We are being quizzed on anatomical planes, etc., animal cell organelles, microscope parts & handling, mitosis. I think there's a bit more but I've got a headache and can't think right now.

im in a&p 1, t th 11:30-2:30, teacher is great.... was a dr. for 40 yrs, so he has lots of insight into the profession!!!! good luck everyone!!!!:yelclap:

thanks jezziemis:bowingpur for the site good info....

Another A&P-er checking in here.

I had my first lab today, and thank goodness there were plenty of other adults in the room. In my other classes (math, chem) it's just me and a bunch of 20-year-olds. Both my teachers (lecture, lab) seem good so far.

So far I'm feeling okay with the material. I am lucky in that I have 2 solid hours to study every morning.

I'll be checking in here everyday. It's nice to have others to talk to.

Hi all, I'm checking in this is my third time taking this class :smackingf yeah i know that is crazy. They say third times a charm, I sure hope so. I have decided to give myself more study time at least 3hrs a day. I work full time and go to school full time. If anyone can give me some advice on how to study this material it would be great. At the present time I have been going over the stuff we talked about in lecture and going ahead a little is this the right thing to do? Hope everyone does well this semester.

I have the same books as you... I wish I would have looked on ebay though... I'm out $180 for both!!

a doctor for 40 years? man, he's gotta be pushing close to 70 by now...

Well our quiz on Monday went well, I didn't miss any of the questions, but that was just on chapter one... but this chemistry chapter is a bit tougher. I liked chem in high school and college (10 years ago) but it seems so foreign now. Wow... A lot to study this weekend...

Glad to join. I start tomorrow @ BMCC in NY. I hope we all rock those A's. Good luck to all.:pumpiron:
