A&P 1 Fall '06 Club!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Just wanted to start a "club" for those of us who are taking A&P 1 this fall.

My class is 16 weeks. I have lecture on M/W/F for one hour each day and lab on Tues for 3 hrs.

My teacher for lecture & lab (same person) is awesome! She gives us a weekly quiz, drops the lowest one. Gives us extra credit. Four major tests. Final is comprehensive. (Ick)

She gave us handouts for chapter 1 and we just fill in what we want as she pretty much has everything she wants in these handouts. She told us we don't have to bring our big, heavy book to class - she'd tell us page numbers of tables, pictures she wanted us to know. As a matter of fact - she said we don't have to use the book that was sold to us for this semester. She said we could use any book like Saladin, etc., and make copies if any diagram, table is different. Pretty nice there.

Okie dokie - who else?

Yipppeeeeee!!!! I just got my grades and I got an A+!!! That's just what I wanted for Christmas! I hope everyone else out there is getting good news as well!

:monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance:

Peace,

Cathie

Awesome!! Dr. S is the best. Let me know how it goes. I've been watching A&2 lectures online so I can be caught up in time for Jan. Not sure why they thought I already had A&P2, but oh well ;)

Good job on your A!!

Had my final last night. Everything went pretty well. I am fairly confident that I can get out of A&P 1 with an A. Now onto A&P II!

I made it with an "A".

It was tough yet very interesting, I love challenges. :-)

Now on to A & P II

I also had my Lecture final last night - I left crying! I have had a 100 average up until this last week! I bombed the Lab with a 50 and felt I did the same on the Lecture. I needed a 58 on the lecture to get an A. I emailed my teacher after I got home to express my concern....here was his reply:

"You did A spendid job......You did better thAn you think. You got

credit for your points and it mAde A difference. WhAt I remember, even

though it has only been A couple of hours is thAt you mAde A mid 80 on

the finAl. Enough points! Be hAppy And hAve A greAt holidAy. It seems

my cAps Are only working on A few letters."

I GOT AN A!!!!!!!!!

Yes, he is GREAT - I also have him for A&P II in the Spring!

Congrats to all who've put A 'n P to rest until January. I hope to join you right after my final on Thursday night. Can anyone help me with one of my essay questions? Here it is:

"Outline the events of oogenesis and the time at which these events occur in the female. Include all the stages from stem cell to final production of an ovum. As you describe the process, indicate whether the cells formed are haploid or diploid."

Does anyone know of a good, easily memorized explanation of oogenesis that I can access online? I have looked quite a bit this afternoon and found nothing. I'm not happy with the explanation in Martini, either; his simple description involves graphics that do not spell out when the cells are haploid or diploid, and I'm not a graphics person. I really prefer text.

Any direction you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks.

Good luck!

Hey CuriousMe:

Love that quote! So Inspiring! Especially for me... (self esteem hasn't been all that great in the past for many reasons I won't go into here.)

I have 10 wonderful children, (only two still in the nest, 14 and 10) and 6 Precious Grands, (always wanted to be a Nurse.) Just finished w/ A&PI w/ a B, wanted an A, but am Happy w/ my B! (My A&P Instructor was Great!) No more Algebra! Yeah!

Going forward next semester which begins Jan. 16 for me, w/ A&PII and Eng. Comp.II, taking an EMT class in Summer. Then I'll be finished w/ prereqs. I will, of course, need to take Micro. and Nursing Math, which I can take during Nursing Prog., which I'm hoping to start in Fall 07. (Studying over Holiday for HESI.)

If you are curious, you might visit safekidzz.com and see what I've been up to. Wrote a children's Safety Resource, which I'm hoping will be pub. this yr., "The Magical Dolphins Safety Adventure." Recieved many great reviews from Teachers, Principals, a Pediatrician, and a few RN's. which I plan to place on back cover, once pub. (motivation: some not so good childhood, teen exp.)

Well... Heres to All the Nursing & Pre-Nursing Students and especially to allnurses.com.

You Can Do IT!!! If I can w/ a GPA 3.75 so far

(a one who has been called brainless most of my life... anyone can!)

I love this site. God Bless the creators! The info., links, sites posted on various threads has helped me tremendously w/ my studying.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
