The problem isn't too bad but you have to know how to convert pounds to kilograms.
1 pound=2.2 KG.
13.2 lbs/2.2=6KG
Multiply the KG by the mg
6KG X 200mg=1200mg (this is the dose for the entire day)
Final step is to divide the dose for the entire day into three equal doses
1200mg/3=400mg per dose.
Now try this one....
17.6lb infant the daily dose is 300mg/kg/day if the medication is supposed to administered 4 times daily what is the total dose for the day? How much medication should be administered per dose?
I have gotten homework help on here and appreciated it greatly. Nurses seem to know an easier way of figuring things out and explaining it. Although, I didn't use actual problems and if I did, I just asked HOW to work them. There is no harm in helping others as long as they help themselves.
