I'm getting ready to start my RN-BSN at . My desktop computer is a Mac. I don't have Microsoft Word. From what I am told, I will need Word, Powerpoint, and possibly Excel. Is there an all in one program to buy that will work on my Mac? Thanks in advance.

Get the apple "pages" program and use it, then save the documents as RTF ( preferred format) here's a tutorial

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it very much!

I'm currently in the program, using Mac as well.

couple of options:

1) buy MS Office for the Mac. Microsoft has deals with different schools/employers; I picked up my copy through work (non-profit hospital) for less than $15. This is the route I like, because I don't have compatibility or formatting issues with files.

2) use the free, open-source OpenOffice (or another fork). Save as .rtf

3) use Apple's Pages and Keynote (Taskstream says it is ok accepting these file formats; but I haven't submitted anything outside of Word yet).

I prefer the 1st route because I'm using PERRLA for APA formatting within Word. So much easier.

Im also using Google Drive, Evernote, and Dropbox to save/sync notes, tasks, and works in progress across my devices (Samsung Note 8, iPhone 5, MacBook Air and Mac Mini).

if you have an iPad, iPhone or android device, download "Pocket ".

YOu can purchase Microsoft Office for Mac at Amazon for 69.00. HAs some bad reviews, however

This is what I did when I need the Microsoft products for school. They worked well for me.

I'm using Google Drive & Docs and LOVING them so much more than my Mac version of Office...and even better they are FREE. :) :) I've read good things about Slides so I am pretty sure I will be using that over Power Point when the time comes.

Yep. I had Google Drive on my computer for 4+ years, but never used it. I finally used it last month to create a PowerPoint presentation and was hooked. It is user-friendly and automatically saves your work every couple of minutes.

I've also used Google Drive to create word processing documents during the times I just didn't feel like dealing with MS Word. I simply write the paper, convert it to a PDF, and save it to my computer for later uploading.

Google Drive also works on Apple/Mac devices, Chromebooks, etc.
