Seattle University BSN applicants 2012

U.S.A. Washington

Hi all,

I didn't see any threads for Seattle University, so I thought I would start one. What classes are you taking, current GPA, extracurriculars, etc? Any thoughts on the application process?

I guess I will start by saying that I am currently finishing 2 prerequisites. Currently my overall GPA is 3.3 and pre-req GPA is a 3.9. I'm starting a CNA program, so hopefully that goes well. My overall GPA is low, so I am worried about that.

I am SO nervous just thinking about it!!

I'm so sorry Zegwin! Stay optimistic and definitely apply again next year. I would call them in a few weeks to see what you can do to improve your application. Plus, applying again shows dedication.

I did not get in either... I am with you on the letter being confusing! They said something about academic performance, but I have a 3.9 in the nursing pre reqs... They had hundreds of applicants and only a limited amount of space, so I get it! Would have been nicer if they told you exactly why you were rejected. Seems like they want people who have EMT or other relevant experience in the field. Congratulations to everyone who got in and for those who did not, stay motivated!!!

yah they said it is a forum letter. Pretty much they told me to re take some of my off classes that I did not do well in. (Mainly my math class and micro.) He also said that yes I have a high b's in everything else as well as some a's but a's are what you need to be better. So I am signed up to retake a few classes. I still have NSCC's application period.

OH!!! congrats to everyone else! and welcome to the club Pleasant!

Hello all I am in Spokane and today I received a letter saying I was on the wait list and to mail my current transcripts as soon as I get them. I still haven't taken the microbiology I am taking it next quarter. Does any one know how many spots are wait listed and how many out of those possibly get chosen from the wait list? Any info would help! Thanks :)

Hey all! I got the acceptance letter for the BSN program this weekend! So stoked! I also applied to the their APNI Master's Program, which I got waitlisted for, so if I get in off the waitlist for that program, a spot will open up in the BSN program.

misjohnson, I am not sure how the waitlist works for the BSN program, but for the SU APNI (Masters) program, the only info I could get from Seattle U was that the waitlist was "short" and when a spot opens, they re-evaluate the applicants and decide who to offer it too. Sorry I don't have any more info than that!

Hello everyone and congratulations to everyone who got in!

I also did not get into SU but I got an offer to be waitlisted, but according to zegwin and others, it seems as if SU is sending out two types of rejection letters? One has something about how to improve your current status? (this is what I gather from what Pleasant and Zegwin said they have received in the mail) and one is like the one that I received where they are giving us space on the wait list? Please let me know if this is accurate.

Congrats again to those who got in! Despite not getting in (again) I am excited for you guys who will be starting in the fall :)

I don't know how the waitlist works, but remember that a lot of us who got into SU are also hoping for an acceptance from UW. If I get into UW, I will withdraw my acceptance which opens up a spot! Don't lose hope if you're on the waitlist!

It seems like the applicant pool was really high this year at SU so for those who got rejections, did you apply anywhere else? It seems like the odds are better at UW this year. If you made it to the proctored essay at UW you have I think a 1:3 chance of getting accepted there. If the stats are true and we were all competing against 700 applicants at SU for 75 slots, the odds were worse. I have years of experience as a LPN and military experience so I think that helped me stand out at SU.

... not this year...

Congrats to those who were accepted.....

Oh well at least I can look forward to sitting around like a little kid at the window waiting for the mailman at least one more time...

I'm sorry to hear that JLoya....let the waiting for UW begin!!! It sounds like you have lots of great experience that UW will really like.

OMG! I got accepted. WOOOhooooo!!! I had been timing the mail man and couldnt wait to have him sort through the mail and stick them in the box. So I asked him to just hand in mine. He kept picking through the small white mail until finally he came through a big yellow envelope. And YES! it was finally here.
