TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

oh okay! THANK YOU! what is yalls gpa and teas scores if you dont mind me asking. Im wondering what they consider competitive/average. Also, when do you think they will start letting people know about admission decsions? Also are yall applying to houston or dallas campus?

Well I haven't taken my TEAS yet. Eek!! I should be taking it in a couple of weeks. My advisor told me that a TEAS score in the 80s is competitive...my goal is a 85!

As far as when they will let people know - on their website somewhere they say that decisions will go out in early November! :D

I'm applying to the Dallas campus.

What about you? TEAS? GPA? What campus are you applying to?

Let me know how Galveston is! I applied to UTMB as well, and it's in Galveston. I haven't been there in years, though, so I have no idea what it's like now!

Enjoy your vacation!

If you search for "TWU 2012," you can find threads from the last admission group. It's kind of sad reading some of the posts though, when people get rejection letters :( But I was reading it the other day, and it looks like they send out acceptance letters in waves. So some people find out early, and they then have a small time frame to say yes or no, and then once TWU gets all the "no's," they send out their next wave of acceptance letters. Some people didn't get acceptance letters until mid December...scary!!!!! I also think they have a wait list.

I'm applying to the Dallas campus, how about yourself?

Thank you! I actually got back yesterday, and it was a fun and relaxing week away :) Galveston is pretty fun! It's a really small town, and super humid :uhoh21:. But I think I got used to the humidity really fast, so It wasn't too bad for the latter part of the week. I drove past the UTMB hospital and it seems well kept up and clean.

The beach is nice, but has a TON of seaweed on it. My family and I actually had to buy a rake so we could clear ourselves a spot to lay out/set up beach chairs.

I think I could see myself becoming very bored in Galveston with an extended period of time, but at the same time if you're there for nursing school, you wouldn't have much free time anyway! ;) Also, Houston is only about an hour away.

Question to those who are already attending TWU as students: I don't have to "send" my transcripts to them if I'm a current TWU student, right? I have been a student for two semesters and they already have my community college transcripts on file...so I shouldn't need to do anything as far as that goes, am I correct? All I should need to do is take my TEAS, send the score to TWU, and then apply for the nursing program online - right?

hi! i am a pre-nursing student at hcc and i will be applying for the fall 2013 at twu houston campus. this coming fall semester, i’m taking micro & a&p ii and i think i will be done with my science courses. but i have a few questions. is college algebra required for the program? it doesn’t say in the program requirements but i‘ve been told by my friends. and also when should i take my teas and start applying for the program?

good luck to y’all.

hi! no, college algebra isn't required by twu :) you may still want to take it if you're applying to other programs besides twu because i think other schools in houston require it. as far as when to take the teas and start applying...i'd say take the teas no later than early to mid january since the fall deadline is february 1st, and apply whenever the application for fall 2013 opens! it's never too early to apply! right now only the spring 2013 application is open so you'd probably have to wait until november or december before the fall 2013 application period opens.

good luck with your classes this fall semester!!

@ambrekai I am not currently attending TWU, but I did attend and worked at TCU and would assume its the same protocol at both schools. You would not have to send your transcripts to TWU they can pull them for themselves. I think there is a part on the application where you can note where you were enrolled for classes, so it would notify them. Maybe I'm making that part up b/c I've applied to so many schools this year for prereq's, but I think it's TWU app that has that part.

Thanks for the reply! That's what I figured, but I just wanted to double check to make sure I'm doing everything right. I don't want to be ineligible because I wasn't paying attention and didn't apply correctly! It's nerve-racking enough as it is...I'm just ready for the deadline to be up so I can stop thinking about and double checking all my moves to make sure I'm not missing anything. :uhoh21:

Hello all,

So happy i found this forum! Question? Is

pathophysiology offered in the fall at the Houston location?

If so is anyone scheduled to take it? wandering if I should try and sign up hoping I get accepted into the Spring 2013 program!

[color=#333333]hello all!

[color=#333333]i haven't posted in a while because i have been busy taking a summer chemistry class to boost my gpa. :) so this will be my 3rd and hopefully last time applying to twu. my old gpa was a 3.73 i believe and i had a 72 on my teas, and i did not get in. my new gpa is 3.84 and i will be taking the teas again because i was told that getting above an 80 is competitive, unless your gpa is a darn 4.0 which mines isn't. so here i go again. if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask because i have been through this quite a few times. i wish everyone the best of luck guys!

[color=#333333]did you have first attempt a's on the four classes? or any pref.? did you speak to a advisor to get advice as to why you were not accepted?

Welcome to the thread! :D

That's a good question! I haven't heard one way or another that it is offered...and I don't think I recall anyone on this forum who is going to Houston saying that they're taking it early. Your best bet is to call one of the Houston advisors today and get your answer, that way if it IS offered you can go ahead and sign up if it's not too late.

What are your stats, Bmart?
