TCC Spring 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I have not seen a thread yet so I thought I would get one going for those applying for this Spring.

I applied with a 3.75 and a 90.5 on the HESI. Does anyone know how many spots they will have available? My advisor didn't say too much other than "Looks good and good luck!!"
I was told they will accept approximately 100 (maybe a few more depending on how close scores are).

They took 140 last round. So hopefully it will be closer to that number.

Thanks Nyknick!! I am sure by the sounds of this thread that it is going to be a close field.

Okay so i have retaken the HESI, Are we allowed to combine scores like for example if i made higher on the math the first time but did better on Vocab, Reading, and Grammer the second time. Does anybody know about this??? thankyou

@texasgal

I believe they only will take the higher cumulative score out of the two tests.

I took my HESI yesterday, and made a 94.5. I did really well on each section, but I noticed that on the score report the reading section was broken down into further sections (conclusions, understanding...). I made a 94 overall on the reading portion, but in the subsection labeled "conclusions" I received a 66.67. In every other subsection, I had high A's which averaged out my reading score to a 94. Do you think the subsections will be considered, or just the overall score? I would hate to have to retake the entire test, for one section.

@PJE22Every reference to the HESI test in the application process thus far has mentioned only the 4 major sections - nothing has been mentioned regarding the subsections. The last page of the application also divides the HESI in this format, causing me to believe that the subsection scores are not heavily weighed. However, this is only my opinion...

Glad I can be of help! Good luck to you!

I turned in my application this week and each catagory had a grade like reading 98% but the sub-scores under each catagory were not listed. I have a 3.5 and made a 97% on the Hesi. My advisor said she couldn't guarentee anything but that the average GPA getting in last semester was between 3.5-4.0. Hopefully my Hesi score will put me at the top of the 3.5's! Crossing my fingers!

Julie

Julie thats an awesome hesi score. I'm sure it will put you at the top of the 3.5'ers. I'm also a 3.5 but i scored 91 on hesi so i'm praying i can squeeze in. I was told the same thing about last round taking 3.5-4.0.

@PJE22 I scored lowest on that subsection as well. The advisor told me that they don't look at the subsections though...

I am taking my HESI tomorrow morning. I have been studying for it for quite a while. I feel prepared. It is annoying however, about the vocabulary section. Just going to try to enjoy these next couple months until applications come back. Remember, everything happens for a reason. Things happen no early or later than they are suppose to in life. I hope everyone applying that really wants this gets in! Everyone seems to have very competitive grades on both GPA and HESI, so it is going to be close!!!

Best wishes to everyone...

@ texas_gal I think i heard of a student being allowed to combine 2 HESI scores due to the fact another school had required all HESI sections and TCC only needed 4.
