BSN. International graduate. No work experience. Average educational background.

Any jobs that I have a high chance of getting hired. My focus is to gain experience. In houston area. Any suggestions?

How long ago did you graduate? With no experiences your chances are reduced by locally educated fresh new grads applying for the no experience needed positions. It's not impossible but will be difficult. You need to cast a wide net (LTC, rehab, subacute, private duty) and not just aim for hospitals.

Are you a citizen or PR or do you require sponsorship?

I graduated last year. Im a US citizen.

So I shoud not focus much on hospitals?

If you focus only on hospitals your risk of disappointment & rejection is higher. Many of the local grads did their clinical rotations. & may have had a preceptorship or internship that created a recommendation. Even US grads shouldn't only look at hospitals.

Look at all possibilities LTC rehab subacute private duty and others. The more different types of facilities you apply to the greater chances of interview & subsequent hiring. Hyper focus on one aspect and reduce your hiring chances.

If you have no experience, you can look into Memorial Hermann Fellowship program. You have to pay to get in, and you get a small monthly stipend, but it gets you clinical experience which could land you a job there or elsewhere after your 6 months of experience. My nursing faculty have told us that hospitals don't want to hire someone who's been out of school and unemployed for >6mos because they might think you've been twiddling your thumbs/losing clinical skills/knowledge even though you might have been sincerely looking for work. :/ This program is great to be able to put some experience under your belt with a reputable hospital and a shot at a job elsewhere (or with them) after gaining clinical experience. I just had my phone interview with DaVita.

I'm not sure what to expect.

But the interviewer told me that I should expect a call within 1 week from the manager of the clinic that I applied at. If I do not get a call, then I should follow up again.

Does it sound good?

For those with DaVita Experiences, please share your comments / suggestions or so on. Thanks.

I have been working for Davita in Houston as an lvn while completing my RN. I am actually in the process of leaving for a position at Bayshore hospital in Pasadena to get some med surg experience. I put in over 200 applications and I only got 5 call backs. I keep hearing that Bayshore is not a great hospital, but I figure some experience puts me in a better position than where I am right now
