Lone Star Fall 2012 ADN Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Lab kit is a little disappointing for $100. Has lots of gauze, an IV bag and line, foley cath, syringes, more gauze, bandages, sodium chloride I a bottle, forceps a pen light a colostomy bag... Few more things but that about sums it up

I was afraid of that. It sounds like what my LVN friend had to buy for her course.

We survived! It wasn't anything brutal. We

*went through our paperwork to make sure we had everything,

*went over info about 1172 and the fall,

*got a mini-tour,

*practiced hand washing

* had a 75 minute lunch,

*went over the online component to the course,

*and then worked on vital signs.

And I think that's it. We have online homework, a quiz every day, an article presentation, and then just basic CNA stuff to learn.

Don't we have to be in a class every day, too? Also, do we really have to do a presentation? Ugh. I would rather die than get up in front of anyone, lol.

Yeah, 9-5. And yes, it's just a 5 minute review of an article we pick. No biggie. But we have a big project/presentation every semester, too. :)

Oh, lord...Get the smelling salts! ;-)

Oh my GOODNESS!!! I am seeing red. After all this financial aid stuff and I log on today to begin my nutrition class and find my summer loans are gone...vanished...disappeared from my account. I called the financial aid number and they had to escalate the request as they aren't sure where they went. I need that $$ to pay for my books, stethoscope, scrubs, etc. I barely scrapped up enough for the fundamental books but need this summer disbursement to pay for everything else. I've stressed myself into a migraine. Sorry had vent, trying to stay calm until I receive a call back with the resolution

I'm so sorry, tl. I feel for you, believe me. Not sure what is going on in the financial aid department, but the speech we got from them at orientation sounds sillier the further away I get from it.

Badge? Where do we get that?

I Got the Student Nurse ID badge from the library at NH. It is supposed to grant you access to clinical locations.

Oh no...that's terrible! :/ I really hope they get it fixed soon and all this "getting started" drama is just a bad memory. So now even when they fix it, you're screwed out of taking nutrition??

KnightGal, we don't need to get badges. We do it as a group in the fall.

I'm attempting to apply to kwood's ADN right now...can someone tell me how we link our HESI scores to show up on the score sheet that must be printed out?
