i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

I think the math drug calculation class is worth it. I took it so I can get the test out of the way and not have to worry about it when the semester starts. The professor in the class teaches everything that is on the test so you are pretty prepared for the test. We got out early too at 2:30 which was nice.

Thanks for all the information! I'm taking the Keys to success class on Monday and Wed. and the drug calculation class on Friday. Do you get your test results before you leave?

Yes you do. :) Good luck!

Hey Katie! It's good to hear from you! As Jenn said, we just took the class this Friday and then the Keys to Success class on Saturday. I highly recommend the math class because the teacher is so good. She teaches you everything you need to know and then you don't have to worry about it through the rest of the semester. It was an interesting class and it was mostly THR people that were there....and a lot of Northlake. Poor Jenn and I have been the very few from El Centro in both classes...I guess our timing is just off.

I brought the information with me today to scan to you. The packet from the Success course seems really helpful.

Oh man, when we had our class on Saturday there were some 4th sem. Nursing students taking the exit HESI test and we saw several coming out in tears (we're assuming they didn't pass). It was the most emotional thing I've ever seen! I am so scared to take that test!!!!!

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.

I am going to get back on Friday. And there are no more classes to attend, unfortunately.

Hi Everyone!

I'm sure you are all excited about classes starting next week! I have a quick question for you guys that will help me to decide whether or not to have Northlake be a choice for me in the application process.

How much time on-campus (school campus) will you be spending each week? I know one day is lecture and then there is lab time. I live in Rowlett so Northlake is a bit far for me, but I don't want to limit my chances of being accepted either. But will the time away from home during the commute be OK because it won't affect my family time with my kids.

Good luck to all of you! I look forward to being in your shoes either in August '06 or January '07:D !

The way it's set up so far is 4 days a week we are at school through week 7 and then beginning with week 8 we switch to clinicals at the hospital 2 days a week (or some have one long day). That leaves 1 skills lab and 1 lecture class at school each week. The schedule varies each week some what, but that gives you a general idea. I have no idea what happens in semester II.

I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck to you as well!

Hi Polska, and welcome to AllNurses.com.

You have several options to consider, since you already have a bachelor's degree. First of all, there are programs out there that are geared toward those with a bachelor's already, or you can get a associate's in nursing.

Whatever you decide, good luck! :)
