i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

So the clincals are separate from the lecture time? I'm just confused... there was a paper in my packet that said site preference, and it had presby and harris on different days from 6:15am to 3:30. Is that for clinicals or lecture? When are lectures? I work in the CBO West so we have regular office hours and I have to be there at least 3 days a week from 4-8. Hopefully this won't interfere and if it does I hope my manager will work with me. What is LINC? I have an appointment with Joan tomorrow to turn in my application, so I'm getting closer!! Nan said that they will mail out letters on the 21st, so hopefully if the post office is on time, I will get my letter before Christmas. Nan told me that so far from the 1st deadline, they might have 10 people. Do you know anyone else that is applying? Good luck with the HESI!*Brianna

Brie2200, 1st semester lecture is on tuesday from 4p-830p @ THR corp office in arlington. Your clinical day would be, if on Ft Worth side either be Wed. or Thursday. Expierence speaking if you can get thursday clinicals, because you have to get your pt the night before and have some paperwork to complete. LINC is a program for clinical positions to recieve pay for school time, this semester i worked 24 hours and got paid for 36. You would have to transfer to a patient care position to take advantage of this, you might have to wait until your first semester is over to get a tech job unless you are cna or emt. There is 1 person from the Er @ hmsw that is applying that i know of. As far as letters are concerned I got mine on xmas eve, a cool suprise to say the least. Good Luck with everything. Heath

Brie, do you have to work for them in order to apply?

Are they still accepting applications? If not, when is the next deadline? How many people do they accept each semester?

What is the criteria? (I have completed all of my pre-reqs (3.77) and support classes (4.0) required by El Centro.)

Thanks. :)

Fun2care, you might call el centro health occ office and tell them you would be interested in THR program. They do accept community members, you would have to sign a contract to work for THR for 2 years after graduation. If you took a position with THR the benefits are second to none, tuition reimbursement of 5260 a year for full time.........................starting to sound like recruiter sorry. It is another avenue however to reach your nursing school goal, so worth the shot. Also if you pm me or probably brie2200 we could give you number for THR person with more info, it might be good to talk with her to see if you would need anyhting else with your application. best wishes Heath

Fun2Care,I do know that they take THR employees first, but so far I am told they only have 10 out of 40 qualified applicants for Spring 06. Keep in mind that the deadline for employees isn't until Dec 20th though. I am going to the info session on Monday, and I will let you know approx how many people are there b/c they told us that if you were going to apply by the Dec 20th deadline you should attend the Dec 5th info session. I asked how many people they thought were going to apply, and they have no idea. They told me that last semester they had 60 applicants, and of course they only took 40. Good Luck to you... Brianna

Hey you guys, I called about our scrubs and they said they should be here within 10-15 days. I saw that they charged my bank acct. so I called them to get a ETA. I just wanted to let y'all know in case you didn't already :)

I am excited to see them! I hope they spell everything correctly :uhoh21:

Thanks, Brianna & Heath.

I'm registered to take my Algebra over again during winter-mester. So, hopefully, I'll apply for Fall '06 with a 4.0/4.0. (I accept all prayers!)

faceinbooks82, I'm excited for you! I know what you mean about spelling names right. :uhoh3:

Thanks funnie! I am excited too!

I just got back from the school and they wouldn't take payments for the spring semester yet on that $86 charge thing we need to pay for. They let me pay for classes but not for that $86 insurance thing. They said to come back about a week before school starts to pay for that....WEIRD...oh well.

I bought my "textbook pack" also and the total was $551.80. They didn't actually have them in stock but I paid for them and they'll call me when they're ready. Yes, I got my loan check in the mail so I was able to finally take care of this stuff.

How is everyone?

Good luck to everyone on their finals! :roll

Oh that is weird that they won't take payments for that insurance thing. I was going to go up this week and pay for it. My name badges are still not in. Hopefully it will come in soon.

NLC bookstore doesn't have the book pac, either. The only book that I have is the drug dosage calculation, because that is not in the package.

Have you noticed that we have to buy a "skills pac" from the bookstore, too? It is mentioned on my registration paper under the skills lab course.

Katie,

I didn't look to see if they had the Skills Packs in stock. I know they are the things with all of our supplies we will be using but I don't know exactly what's in them. Someone told me they cost about $100. I also don't know if they knew what I was asking about :lol2:

I am getting excited for school and work closings right now :) I am hoping they will let us go home from work soon! Some people have already left this morning!!!!

I hope everyone stays SAFE AND WARM

The lab supply pack was $49.80. It has a urethral catheter, gauze sponges, surgical gloves, abdominal pads, alcohol prep pads, cotton tipped applications, foley catheter supplies, and various other things. :) I got so excited when I got it. :lol2:
