Collin College Spring 2013 applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I recently applied to the nursing program for Spring 2013 but have not been a student at Collin College. I have heard numerous things about how you get accepted, the importance of the PSB score, whether or not you have a degree, etc. Anybody out there in the same boat as me? Wondering what's true and what isn't? I was also told we should get letters in the mail some time around September 11 either being accepted or rejected. True?

Any knowledge on this would be great!

Good point ashnix21! I was getting my dates mixed up as well! I will see you on the 30! Also, I was at school yesterday figuring out some financial aid stuff. I stopped by the new nursing department offices, which are now in building E, not B. First day of classes will be January 22, 2013 and we wear all white scrubs! I'm so excited! I just hope my daughter decides to be born before her due date, which also happens to be January 22, 2013!

Oh wow Pepper35 you are going to be super busy! Congrats on the baby!! Is this your first? We have a six year old and a two year old.. and man do they keep me busy! Random but did you happen to ask about shoes? I know some schools require all white shoes. I am super excited to start... I don't really want to have to wait until the beginning of December to start purchasing all of my items for school. I'd like to go ahead and purchase my stethoscope, shoes and those types of things now and not have to do it on top of all my Christmas shopping! Also did you send in new immunization records? I don't have and new vaccines since I submitted in July.

This will be our second daughter. We also have a two year old. She's the best! I know I will definitely have my hands full:) The woman I spoke with did say the shoes have to be all white I believe. I agree it would be nice to get some of the necessities before the semester begins. I sent in a new set of my immunizations just to be on the safe side. I just need to update my CPR and get a new TB test in a month or so. Oh, and the flu shot that I got in August..

All white shoes and have to go all the way around the foot with no openings. No clogs and no crocs. ;)

Stethoscope you can buy now. I recommend a Littman. Scrubs you are required to buy through the school's named vendor. Mostly what you will need right away are just school supplies.

Does anyone know what the schedule looks like?

I haven't heard. My guess is at Orientation we will be informed. Let's hope!

I found out that at Orientation we will get our ID badges and if anyone else has never taken courses at Collin, you can go by Student Life and grab a free parking sticker for your car.

I'm so excited to meet the other 47 people.. There are only 48 of us, right?

You know I thought there were 60 but after looking at last springs registration I think you are right there seem to be only 48! I kind of looked at the schedule of classes for the last two semesters and this is what I came up with....

Monday- Intro to Professional Nursing- 8:30am- 2:30pm

Tuesday- Integrated Nursing Skills- 9:00am- 1:00pm

Wednesday or Thursday- Clinicals-- It looks like you will either have clinicals from 6:30am-3:30pm on Wednesday or Thursday OR 6:30am-11:00am Wednesday & Thursday!

To be honest I'm really hoping to get 6:30-3:30 so that I can have two days a week to study, with a 6 year old and two year old at home weekend studying will be limited for me. So I need to take advantage of the time they are at school!

Also, has anyone else started looking for white shoes? I talked to the lady at the front desk when I went up there the other day and she seemed to think they were pretty strict on them being completely white. I am having a hard time finding some that don't have just a little bit of silver on them.

Ashnix21, I am right there with you regarding the days of the week for studying..

Good morning! Where can I find the last couple semesters' worth of registration for nursing students? I am still pretty clueless about how to navigate the Collin College website..

If you log into cougarweb you click on look up classes and select the semester you want to look at the pick the nursing courses.

Thanks! Not being a student there I haven't tried navigating much on cougarweb!
