Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2013

U.S.A. Tennessee

This thread is for those who are applying for the nurse residency program at Vanderbilt. I thought this would be a great place to keep up to date Inge selection process and make connections with new friends and colleagues. I am currently in my final year of nursing school at UCCS in Colorado. My goals are to be accepted for the adult critical care track an then return to school and become a CRNA. I know the job market is very competitive, especially for residency programs. I completed the online application 2 days ago and am waiting to hear back for more instructions. Good luck to everyone:)

Hey y'all,

I am applying for the Women's Health track as well. I am really nervous but super excited about the possibility to be in Nashville and at such a wonderful hospital. I looked at the NRP yearbook for previous years and couldn't find how many people were accepted into the Women's health track previously so that makes me a little nervous. Good luck to all y'all!

Hey everyone! Graduating may 2013 from University of Arkansas, applying for women's health. Ultimate plan is to attend Vanderbilt CNM program! So nervous about this application process!

Hello Everyone! I just applied and I am hoping to go for critical care!

I am from New Jersey!

What is everyone's gpa and experience like? And does anyone know what they are looking for?

Hey bclark512! So funny, I am applying for the psych track- so nervous too, this thread really helps! How awesome would it be if we both got in?

Anyone else applying for the psych track?

Hello all! I just finished and submitted my application for the Pediatric track. Now the waiting game begins! I have worked in the Trauma OR at Vanderbilt for less than six months, and am excited about potentially getting the opportunity to pursue my dream of working with the kiddos!

ASnowRN did you start there as a new grad? I didn't think they hired people as new grads other than through the residency program. I'm sure its just as competitive though. That's awesome that you already have that kind of nursing experience.

I completed the final step of sending in my transcript a few days ago! I'm from a small school on the eastern shore of Maryland and after seeing the past cohorts I am so nervous! I applied for the peds track as well, so now it's just a waiting game! Good luck to everyone!

Chan5083,

I actually got accepted into the Perioperative Intern program, which is the only other way to get hired as a new grad. The OR definitely wasn't my first choice, but I had the chance to get my foot in the door as well as learn a lot of new skills! Good luck to you!

oh ASnowRN thats really cool! yea OR is not my cup of tea but I agree it's a great way to get your foot in the door and learn new skills. PCovell91, have you been notified that they recieved your transcript? I sent mine in a while ago but didn't get a formal notification that they have received it.

Chan5083- I sent my transcript in the 24th and still haven't head anything either! I think one of my references still has to fill out the form, but hopefully when he sends it in I'll get confirmation that they have everything!

Oh okay! Yea I got confirmation when my references had all been submitted, and I got a separate confirmation immediately after I submitted my online app but nothing after I sent in my transcript. They are probably still going through everything I guess.

Question How do you know if your references send back the form? Does it email you and let you know? Thanks:)
