This thread is for those who are applying for the nurse residency program at Vanderbilt. I thought this would be a great place to keep up to date Inge selection process and make connections with new friends and colleagues. I am currently in my final year of nursing school at UCCS in Colorado. My goals are to be accepted for the adult critical care track an then return to school and become a CRNA. I know the job market is very competitive, especially for residency programs. I completed the online application 2 days ago and am waiting to hear back for more instructions. Good luck to everyone:)
Chan5083- Hmm I didn't get an email saying everything was complete and wait until February. I just got one saying my references were done! But when I look at the online portion of the application it still says everything's in except my references! I have two references checked off though, and ***** said that's all we needed? I'm so confused! I feel bad, I've emailed ****** like thirty times! Haha
Bohl9245- that's what I've been wondering!!! I mean I'm coming from DC where cost of living is MUCH higher, but starting rate where I work is $25 for a new grad nurse. $17-$18 seems super low. BUT then again I've been looking at housing in Nashville and you can get a good 1 bedroom apt for $600, where in DC you're lucky if you pay $1500 haha
Hi everyone...is anyone applying to the Perioperative Nurse Internship at Vanderbilt for Summer 2013? The application just opened up yesterday...for some reason it opens up a lot later than the application for the Nurse Residency Programs. I am a student at The Ohio State University and will be graduating in May :)
Snfairfax, I got an email saying my references were in, then I got one saying my online application had been received and then just the other day I got one saying my whole application was complete. You only have 2 check marks? You should have 3 since your advisor has to do something too. So two instructors and one check mark by your advisor/dean. does that make sense? And don't worry I have emailed her a million times too.
It was pretty miserable clicking no experience last 6 months on that form for work, leadership and volunteer.. I have done some volunteer work with and outside school but nothing that applied to nursing and participated in some things related to organization, but nothing like.. president or secretary. Wow.. I hope that doesn't hold much footing. Does everyone else have stuff like that!? I mean really.. as if nursing school isnt enough to keep us busy?
chan5083- I have three check marks total including my dean! I have one of my first choice references and then an alternate. I haven't done preceptorship yet, so was unable to add an email for that. SO i think I'm completely done with my app, but am worried since I haven't received a final email saying wait until Feb for the next steps. I got an email saying my references were complete though. I don't know, hopefully I'll get something soon or I'm gonna bug ****** again :***:
bclark512- I didn't have any volunteer experience or leadership experience. I added a week long internship thing that I did to my volunteer work but I don't think that really counts haha. I do work at a children's hospital now though and am applying for the Peds track, so hopefully that holds some weight! I was reading the thread for the winter vanderbilt NRP and someone said that the process of choosing people is based off points? I don't know! I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Ps snfairfax, the email I got today said we would find out mid feb about further steps so I assume that's when we hear if we get an interview or not.
