Calling all Southwest Tennessee Community College FALL 2013 Hopefuls!!

U.S.A. Tennessee

Since the last few classes have had a forum for their applicants, I figured I would start one for anyone applying for the FALL 2013 start! Anyone?!

Im signed up for Nutrition, English Comp I, Med Term & Soci for Spring. Im taking Med Term for fun but the rest will be applied towards a BSN as well. I have a Psyc sequence and History sequence completed already! Ill have to take a Humanities elective during the summer as well. I packed my Micro ApII & Stats into this past semester so there was no room for anything else :/ Im trying to knock out everything before Id start the program (if accepted)!

Great plan!! My schedule was pretty similiar because I was advised not to add other classes in with Nursing classes and I did not want to have to worry about taking extra pre-req classes once I graduated in order to get my BSN.

I have credit on my transcript for English Comp I but its not accepted here. I tested out of it from my ACT score. Sucks but Ill manage to survive :) Do you remember how long your essay was? Mine is only about a page typed up. And the directions are SO vague! Ugh hope I did it right

I was told by someone on the actual committee that they really don't even read the letters, which sucks! All they are looking for is your total index score and that's it. Obviously I didn't know that the first time around and I wrote an awesome letter. It was only one page. But of course you want a nice one page letter just in case they decide to read them this time around lol.....

Lol, thats about right. I figure they didn't read anyone's letter that had an index score lower than the cut off! Im starting to wonder if Ill have no competition applying lol.. Only a handful of people in my Micro and AP classes said they were applying to SW! Im going to submit everything tomorrow and just keep my fingers crossed! I still don't understand how the cut off is Feb 1 and it takes them till April to call... lol

Less than 3 weeks until applications are due! Has anyone else applied?

Has anybody heard about fall 2013 program yet?

Hello i hope its ok that i ask this as I'm not a fall hopeful. I'm planning to start my pre reqs at southwest soon and was wondering if anyone could tell me any info. Like what exactly are the pre reqs....and what does my scores need to llopk like on the compass test so i won't need anny basic classes. I take my compass in the next week or two I'm so nervous. On top of trying to get into this cna class lol. Thanks you for any advice.

Notification isn't until April :/ Rejection letters should be going out very soon (if not already) and acceptance calls should be within the next 2-3 weeks! I'm about over all this waiting!

To apply to the program, you need to complete A&P I and II and Micro. There's other classes you'll need to have completed to graduate, but not necessarily to apply (ENGL, STATS, PSYC, etc). The Compass test is rather easy, I'm not sure the exact scores you need, but the testing center at Macon could tell you. I had been out of HS for 5 years when I took mine and I was able to surpass the minimum scores without any reviewing. You'll need to take the NLN PAX-RN exam offered at SWTCC. You need a minimum of 100 on this to even apply. It's only offered a few times a year, so check with the testing center.
