Kaiser telemedicine RN from home

Hi all! Are there any telemedicine nurse's from Kaiser Who currently work at home? I am a Kaiser nurse and I'm considering transitioning into this position. According to the description after your 6 months of training you can work from home but it doesn't specify that you need to be within a certain distance from the call center. Does anyone know are you able to work from anywhere as long as you have good Wi-Fi? If anyone does this do you have a laptop and a cell phone or is it a big home office setup and a landline? Thank you so much. It's very scary to think of changing and if I do I would be losing my seniority.

I am very scared about this job as well, I'm not sure how it will feel using your brain 24/7 and never having any downtime between calls for the rest of your career. In all nursing professions you can take a breather, or take a break/get off the floor if you are stressed. You can even go to bathroom to cooldown, but with this job you can't go to bathroom unless you go off the clock. I know the turnover rate is pretty high, not sure how sustainable it is mentally longterm

When you say turnover rate is high, do you mean staff turnover? I hope that's not the case. I see from kaiser website that they are always hiring advice nurses.

From what I understand, I don't think kaiser let's you work from home. I think you have to go to the call center.

I am a Kaiser advice nurse. We are not allowed to work from home. We have to work at a call center. We do have a high rate of nursing turnover because the job can be very stressful and we are managed very closely. For any further questions, you can PM me.

I am confused as to why you think you would lose seniority. If you stay within the Kaiser system and transition into a different area, you do not lose seniority. I did it, so I know for a fact you won't lose seniority. You are working for a different Kaiser entity, but it's still Kaiser. PM me for more info

That's why you always see job postings for advice nurses, because it is a high turnover.

I did not know this factoid. Here's what I sent you to relieve you of the pressure to post :)

Hey Ninjanurse, how long have you been in the call center? Are you an Advice Nurse or in mgmt? I hear that you are micromanaged but I think thats the case everywhere in nursing now. What is the truly awful thing about working in the call center? Do you get some downtime at all to have watercooler conversations with coworkers or are you chained to the desk? What's your typical day like?

I just sent you a few Pm's

Can you send me the same PM's too, i have the same questions as well. Thanks

I have an interview this week for KPOC, but these comments are concerning to me. I was curious if there was a high turnover because they have really rushed me through the process. I am currently in an acute care setting and I love patient interaction, but I got into a terrible accident and can no longer handle the physical demands of my job so I'm looking for something less physically demanding. But the thought of micromanagement and constant call volume with no breaks concerns me for a number of reasons. I am not when that changes jobs frequently, I have been in my current position for 15 years, I was hoping for something that would be long-term. I was told over the phone that after six months I could work from home but some of you were saying that that is not the case? Can anyone please elaborate for me what this is like once you have passed the six-month training. And are working on your own at home? Is there still micromanaging that occurs, thank you so much for any information you can give me.

Is KPOC in southern cal? I am in northern cal. We belong to CNA and none of us can work from home. If you are in a nurse's union you should ask them about working from home. I will PM you with more information.
