...when you call a parent about a student.

I hate it when I get a call from a Little Darling's parent wanting to know what is wrong with their LD , because they missed a call from the school. When I tell them I have not seen their LD and it could be a number of people. Then they launch into a rant because I don't know who called them. (I'm sure the receptionist a can say an "Amen" to this also.)

Could it be that they have not set up the voice mail option yet or, even better, the voice mail is full. Voice mail is on your phone for a reason, set it up and clean out your voice mail!

Rant over!!!

Ugh. Yes. If the name is stated in the voicemail I will leave the info there, and it never fails that they don't check it. But usually I get that the voicemail isn't set up or full. Super annoying.

Hubs called a contractor this week and his voicemail came up, with no option to leave a message, he then gets a text that says "This is Phil, please reply back with a message." I NEED THIS! I hate voicemails and would much rather text people, but I will at least listen to the voicemail.

Most of the time the parents don't listen to the message that I left and just see my number and call me back- drives me nuts because I then have to retell them everything I left on the message and half the time I was hoping to NOT have to have a real conversation, LOL

My boss has explored getting disposable cellphones. One things we come across is parent is out of minutes, but can receive text. Not sure if she has presented it, but sure would be nice.

This used to drive me batty, too! I didn't even escape from it when I got out of school nursing...if anyone, anywhere in our child/adolescent psych facility calls, the hospital main number is the ID and somehow "who called me" always gets transferred to the nursing supervisor (which I do on weekends) or charge nurse of the unit that has their child (which during the week is me on my regular unit). I especially love when they say, "Oh, they left a voicemail, but I didn't listen to it..."

Yes, the why-ain't-you-an-all-knowing-genius problem. Reminds me of when people come into my 150+ bed facility (and of course, it's not like it's the same 150 every day either) and I can tell they're kind of surprised that I don't immediately know who so-and-so is, and where they are.

Just FYI to the nurse who's asking about the Wound Care certification info.Try the Wound Care Educators. You can also check the Website of The American Board of Wound Care Management.

I hate that as well!

Or how about, you call because little darling got a bruise or whatever, you get VM, leave a message, then get a nasty note the next day from parent saying how they didn't know their kid got hurt, or a talk from the principal of how you never called to to the parent! :banghead:

"Like" one-thousand times over!!!
