Head lice is NOT an emergency. I repeat- NOT. AN. EMERGENCY.

Please carry on.

Forgive me, but you look at ripping lady partss all day and you're screeching over some little ol' lice?

Hahahahahahahaha

Lol. Just the thought of head lice used to make me itchy for days! When I was in HS my nurse's aid classroom had a poster of a giant magnified louse, I stood on my desk and turned it around because I couldn't stand to look at it for another second! Now I put the real deal in baggies and pin them to the bulletin board
Noooooooooooooo!! That would make me itch all. day. long.
Not to bust your bubble, but our little old critters don't just like the school age kiddos 2MzmrmldDUluFszY4BeNRUhFw8YnK8nLzkBNSYABAA== I'm willing to bet that at some point, a ready to deliver momma has graced your doors carrying in with her those little buggers aPT7c1dZQU8Yi4QAA (I hope you know I'm just giving ya a hard time 2MzmrmldDUluFszY4BeNRUhFw8YnK8nLzkBNSYABAA== )

(I always wanted to be an OB nurse, FYI. It was the whole reason I went to nursing school. Just never got the chance to work on that floor!)

Yanno, I've managed to dodge the known cases because I am a big chicken. I did have to take care of a patient with scabies, though. That freaked me out. *shudder*

I KNOW I KNOW IT MAKES NO SENSE. But those ripping lady partss can be sewn back together quickly, and are easy to see. Lice are teeny tiny and insidious and hard to get rid of. Plus, itchy. I will take ripping lady partss any day of the week over small bugs in hair that I cannot easily kill and eradicate.

So I had a parent that I am friendly with, actually have known since before I became a SN, call me because she took her kiddo to the doc and the doc diagnosed lice and gave them an RX. Mom called me on the way home in a panic. It took me forever to talk her off the ledge. But eventually we got through it. Kiddo was treated. No further word from the lice battlefield. So then I see her at a party where she proceeded to go on and on about it. About how freaked out and how upsetting and so on...:nono:

People have an amazing lack of perspective some days.
