Best Pediatric Review?

Hi all.

I've been a school nurse for a few years and passed the NSNC exam. However, in the many nursing years before that, I never worked peds. I'd like an overall "brush up." What do you thing are the best (well-written, not so boring as to induce comas) pediatric review books for nurses? Thanks!

I don't think there is such a thing out there. I don't know if your situation or geography allows, but I stay current in pediatrics and nursing skills by working pool in a pediatric Urgent Care. Plus, you're increasing your pedi mental data base every day on the job. I'd suggest just researching the subjects that you run across that you're not familiar with; otherwise a review would just cover the stuff you already know. But I'm a cave nurse, and I only like books with mostly pictures.

I came across an "Emergency Nursing Pediatric" course. Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) It is not specifically geared toward school nursing, but it looks like it has some good training. Has anyone else taken this course?

Thanks for your response. Having never worked peds, I think I might have trouble landing per diem work doing that. On top of that, I would never supplement a nursing job with...nursing. I'd probably get pigeon-holed into something with adults. I actually have considered getting a weekend job in a kennel, hanging out with man's best friend. They're certainly less likely than geriatric patients to not assault you as you clean up their poop...

I would SO do this if it were available. I like animals more that 50% of the people I know.
