Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Published

Hey all.

I am totally new to this page. I am right now at community college and I want to transfer to a nursing school and get my BSN.

If you could please name me some Universities which offer 3 or 4 semester programs, until graduation, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much!!

Well, the best step is to do a google search for nursing programs in your area. There are a ton of nursing schools throughout the US and without knowing where you live, us doing the search is near impossible.

However, for BSN programs you usually need to complete pre-reqs before starting nursing school. Then it usually is another 2 to 3 years (or 4-6 semesters) of clinicals. So if you do not have the proper pre-reqs done, then they will require you to do more work. If the pre-reqs are not the right level too like someone may have taken a 100 level anatomy but the school wants a 200 level anatomy or the nutrition class was 2 credit hours instead of 3 that can also add additional time repeating pre-reqs.

You do not need to graduate from a community college to transfer. However it is important to talk to the actual university to find out what you need to take and how everything will transfer.

The only 3 semester BSN programs I know of are for people who already hold a Bachelor's degree in another discipline. Most BSN programs are a full four years. If you've already completed many of your prereqs, you may be able to transfer in and only have 2-3 years of schooling to get your BSN.

Which BSN programs are offered for someone who holds a Bachelor's degree in another discipline?

Lots of them. I can't list them all. Google "ABSN" or "accelerated BSN"

Washington State University is a 4 semester BSN program.
