How much do you really make?
Again thank you very much! you guys are wonderful! I really appreciate all your help!! Its not an easy decision to make, but it might be the best for me to head back home to Europe and finish it up there. I just can't imagine paying the rest of my life of so much debts back... Until I am 50. omg! I made a bad decision on wanting to study here. You are right, it was the thrill of living in another country, but now I am back to reality again and I just can't deal with it anymore...

How much do you really make?
Yes I do speak 3 languages fluent (Italian, German, English). trying to get the hang of spanish :) Do you think business would really make that much more money? How much would i be looking at? I am sorry that I sound I am money greedy, but i just wanna make the best of my situation for now and be able to buy my debts back. The past 2 years of Community college were about 20 K (i know its insane, what I did!). Will it be easier to get a job in business as a newly graduate? would a business administration degree do? Or any other field? thank you!!

How much do you really make?
To be honest now looking at it I really went over my mind that I ever had that idea to study in the US. I live in a small village in the alpine region and there are not any opportunities for us. Honestly I wanted to do better and so something with my life. I didn't like the thought of just being a "ski bum" for the rest of my life. Now I am here and just completed my 4th semester of prereqs and I am actually ready to transfer soon. I am proud to say that I, as an international student, have a GPA of 3.85 (unfortunately I got a C in my English class my very first semester, but my English improved since then a lot!). But now looking at the Universities and how much they actually charge. I don't know if it is even worth. to answer all your questions: I thought about overstaying, but the problem is if I have to leave for a bit and go back in the country i might have trouble to get back in the US. I have relatives here and i found great friends. So i do not want to risk that. Doing anything "illegal" isnt my intention. If i have to take at student loan out, I have to work in the US. When I work in Europe I will never be able to pay it back. And since I don't know where I wanna live for the rest of my life... its not a good idea idea. Omg i need to find a sponsor that I can work also in the US then... you are all right. I didn't think this all enough through!! nurseypants123 mentioned about looking into an Accelerated Program?.For that I have to have a BA/BS degree first that I am eligible to apply, right? can it be in any field? Which means I would get any Bachelor degree at the community college and then apply to an accelerated nursing program. right?

How much do you really make?
Again Thank you to all of you! Yes you are right. all other countries require me to have a BSN degree. therefore the LVN might now be my best possible choice either. 3 years ago with the age of 25 i was so convinced that I can make this happen. but now i just dont know anything anymore. Especially after looking on how much universities actually charge for international students. Yes! you are all right having 100K debts is a mess. just the thought of it gives me a headache :( I will look into the community college for their ADN programs. Thank you so so much!!

How much do you really make?
hey again! Thank you for the advice with Puerto Rico!! I will have a look into it. :) I am here on a student visa (F1). So no matter where I go, I always have to pay the out of state/international tuition. Yes I have to show proof of my financial funds. A doctor, who I know here in California, was so kind and she sponsored me. So it was actually here financial statement I that I showed to the Community College. However I took my own loan out (from a bank in Europe) and I have to pay for my entire education on my own. she only help me with the proof of financial funds, because the money has to sit in the bank account for at least 6 months. Sorry to bug you again about the LVN program... So you think that would be a great idea to get this one first? What does an LVN actually do? will i be able to find a job?

How much do you really make?
omg where do i start? :) i didnt expect to get such a fast answer. Thank you very very much to all of you! So to roughly answer your question. I am Austrian. When I work as a nurse in Europe, i will mostly likely around 20,000 Euros (roughly 22 K $) a year. This is after taxes and Insurance. To be honest 22 K are actually considered as a very good income! however with that money, i have to pay rent, car, food, maybe 1 vacation a year. it is really not that easy to live in Europe. This is why i decided to get my education in the US, because I would make a bit more money here. But the downside is here I have to take this huge amount of debts out. but I will be also earn a bit more money. I was so convinced about it at the beginning, but after 2 years I feel like "what Have I done" "Am I insane?" 100 K for school?? I feel the older i get now the more worried I am if this is really worth it... To be honest I don't know where I wanna live yet. its all up in the air. But If I continue my studies here, which I actually kinda want, (except the money issue), I have to work in the US. i wouldnt be able to pay everything in europe off otherwise... That will really cause a problem, carrying such a great amount of debts. Could you give me some more infromation about the LVN program? Will I be able to get after the LVN a BAchelor degree? Are LVN classes transferable? How long will this all take? And I am currently in Southern California. I have relatives and my friends so i wouldnt really consider moving somewhere else in the US. I think the most important question what I have to all of you. Are you happy with what your are doing? Was going through nursing school really worth it? Again, thank you very much to all of you! and Happy holidays :)

How much do you really make?
Hey all! I am a 28 Year old international student in the US. I wanted to study nursing here in the US. I already completed 2 years of prerequisites courses at the community college. CC was still somewhat affordable, but I will have to transfer soon. The Universities (the cheapests once I found in my area) still charge about 27,000 $ per year for international students. Plus books, cost of living, etc. So i am probably looking at around 40 K per year, times 2 or 3 years at the University until I have my BSN. So i will be about lets say 100 K in debts (plus minus 20 K) I dont know. Do you think it will be worth it going that much in debts just for a nursing degree? Will I ever be able to pay that off? I keep reading that a nurse could make 70 K per year. but how much, after taxes, do I really take home with me? Any thoughts/ideas about my situation woudl really help!!! thank you very much!!

LVN to ADRN to BSN? Bridge programs?>
Hey all. I am having a bit of a hard time on deciding if i really want to invest the time and money to become a nurse. All i know is that i really like spending time with people. I have several yrs of experience as working as a nanny and I really enjoy being with kids and helping them. I do not see myself working in a office at all. However i am not sure if I wanna do this the rest of my life. I am kinda lost and the moment and i really have to do some serious soul searching. instead of going straight in the BSN degree i am thinking of getting an LVN diploma first. So i will have the option whether i want to continue in the nursing field or not. Will it be possible to get an RN degree later on?do such "bridge programs" really exist? has anyone experience with that? thank you very much for your answer!

WEST COAST ULTRASOUND INSTITUTE: scam? or a good school?
thank you so very much for your answer! Do you think it was a good program? I know its very overpriced but from the times for the classes it is the best possible solution to me. Did you stay an LVN? is it possible to get an AA degree later on? can i transfer those classes into any program?

Please help! I need an advice!! thx!
I am in my 2nd year of community college. I got rejected from NYU today. The reason why I applied to that program was because they require less prereqs as most other schools. If I apply to UC Denver I have to take college Alegbra Uof Utah requires me to take Pathoph. UCLA requires Calculus instead of statistics. the other ones biochemistry instead of Chemistry. I feel like every single school requires diff. prereqs and I dont wanna take more prereqs. and waste more and money. (I am an international student, the out of state tuition is a pain in the butt) I was now thinking I could apply for a Sociology program and finish my Bachelors in Sociology and then go for the accelerated Nursing program. most accelerated nursing programs have all the same prereqs. (Anatomy, Physio, Microb, Chem, and Stats) Do you think that would be a good idea? is it more difficult to get into a Accelerated Nursing program?

cheapest out of State tuition - please help
Thank you very much! I am already paying 280 $ per credit at the community college. My biggest worry is when I have to transfer to a University. UCLA for example would cost me about 40,000 $ per year on tuition only. All the Cal States are about 28,000. Which is cheaper but still expensive to me. Do you think the reputation of the school matters that much?? Will people really ask me later on in the hospital from which school i graduated?

cheapest out of State tuition - please help
Hey all! I am an international student in the US and I want to apply to a Nursing school. Right now I am in California community college but I just can't afford the tuition anymore. Do you have any suggestions where I could go? A school which has a good nursing program and has an affordable out of state tuition. I am very open to any state. Please let me know your thoughts!! Thank you!
