Just to clarify-- is the tuition 83,434 for the entire 15 month program or is that just one academic year? Thanks!

Haha, I think I know why you are asking that question. Unlike Georgetown, that price is for the entire program.

Hey everyone!

I was accepted as well! I am still waiting to hear back from a couple other programs but am really excited about GW. I am not from the area and was wondering if anyone knows if it is a good idea to commute from the DC area. I was hoping to live in the city!

I thought Georgetown's tuition was ~$75,000 for the entire program...

So I got the email for scholarships at GW. Did anyone else? When I went to the page that they provided with more information, they all said that they were no longer accepting applicants. Did anyone else experience this?

Zoklaw -- Georgetown is $75,000 for one academic year. It is two academic years, so.... yeah.

I'm starting the application process for the 2014 ABSN program. I know it's early but anyone else looking into 2014 start dates at George Washington University?

The $83k is for EVERYTHING, including living expenses, books, travel, etc. My first semester cost about $12k for tuition alone, just to put it in perspective. I think summer is a bit less, but overall it works out to $47ish for tuition.

Keep on the lookout for scholarships!!! They are really awesome about sending opportunities out to the students throughout the semester.

Just to give you guys some encouragement... I am about two weeks away from finals. I started out a bit shaky at the beginning (you really have to change the way you think with regard to answering test questions and making decisions) but once I caught on, I started doing really well... I have at least a solid B+ in all of my classes at this point.

Good luck everyone!! I check this thread periodically and am happy to answer any questions... like I'd mentioned, I was hoping to find someone on here who had started the program to answer MY questions and there wasn't anyone like that, so I'd love to help any incoming students out!!

Hi everyone!

I got my acceptance letter from GW this past Monday. I'm super excited! I am now trying to choose between Marymount and GW. I think I am leaning towards GW, since the program costs are mostly the same. But if any of you have been through the program - any positives or negatives of the program that I should be aware of? From what I've read, it seems like everyone likes the facilities and the professors, which is great.

I've lived in DC for the past 7 years now, and I love it here - I'm a bit bummed thinking about moving to NoVa. Considering that the clinicals can be closer to metro DC (Alexandria, GW), and it seems like at least one of the classes a week is online, would it be okay for a student to live in the DC metro area? I have a car so I can drive to school and clinicals. If you think living in DC is a terrible idea, please let me know!

Congrats, Brielle.

It is definitely doable if you live in the DC metro area if you have a car. I have a few friends who live in Georgetown and a few who live in Alexandria (and it worked out well for them, because our clinicals were in Alexandria). This semester, we're on campus three days per week (clinicals one day, Fridays off) but over the summer, we have clinical two days per week and only have to be in Ashburn one day a week for a few hours. So, yes, I think it's doable for sure.

I was also accepted to Marymount, and if I'm remembering correctly, Marymount was much more expensive than GWU.

As I've mentioned several times, I think the professors are awesome. We just had our head-to-toe exam (basically decides if you pass or fail health assessment and therefore the semester) and it was probably the most difficult/terrifying thing I've ever done, but my professor said it was one of the best ones she has seen so far, and I felt so good about myself. The professors WANT you to do well and they want you to be successful. There are maybe one or two exceptions, but the staff that you'll interact with the most often are sincerely amazing people and teachers.

The program itself is somewhat unorganized, but I don't think this differs from any program in the country. There have been some issues with the online portions of the courses with things not working and a lack of an ability to troubleshoot these problems, but, again, it's the limits of technology rather than an innate problem of the program itself.

I'm sure I could go on and on... but best of luck!

Mindy,

You have been incredibly helpful by responding to posts on here. I was wondering if you would be willing to chat with me by phone to hear more about your experience and to ease some of my concerns. Since I can't send a private message on here, i'll give you my email address. I'm sure you're swamped with homework and clinicals, but even just a few minutes of your time would be greatly appreciated. My email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance!
