  1. Hi everyone! I got my acceptance letter from GW this past Monday. I'm super excited! I am now trying to choose between Marymount and GW. I think I am leaning towards GW, since the program costs are mostly the same. But if any of you have been through the program - any positives or negatives of the program that I should be aware of? From what I've read, it seems like everyone likes the facilities and the professors, which is great. I've lived in DC for the past 7 years now, and I love it here - I'm a bit bummed thinking about moving to NoVa. Considering that the clinicals can be closer to metro DC (Alexandria, GW), and it seems like at least one of the classes a week is online, would it be okay for a student to live in the DC metro area? I have a car so I can drive to school and clinicals. If you think living in DC is a terrible idea, please let me know!
  2. Hi Everyone, Any idea how tough it is to get into this program? (How many people apply? What percentage get in?) I'm applying, but I think it might be a bit of a long shot. I have had some great experience in global health, but i'm seriously lacking in science classes and clinical research experience. I have a about 2 typical pre-reqs completed (though Yale doesn't officially require them, correct?) So I'm applying, but no idea if I'll get in. Are one of the tracks easier than others? I would like to apply for Family, but my guess is that that might be one of the toughest...
  3. Hi Everyone! Do any of you know of accelerated BSN programs or directy entry MSN programs that do not require pre-reqs? or ones that will tentatively accept you in to the program, assuming you take your pre-reqs at the university before you begin your official program? I would like to apply to a direct entry program in the fall, but it would be impossible for me to take pre-req classes right now since my job is a little crazy (i typically work 9 am - 8 pm or later.) I could quit my current job and try to find another with less crazy hours, but considering the unemployment situation i'm pretty luck to have a job at all. It would be crazy for me to quit, especially simply because i would be counting on a potential future acceptance into a MSN program. any suggestions or advice?
  4. hi everyone! this is my first time writing on this blog (i'm so happy i stumbled across this!). I would like to apply to the yale GENP program in November 2011. I was an international affairs major in college (at GWU) and i did not take any of the typical nursing pre-reqs. Yale is (to my knowledge, please correct me if I'm wrong) one of the only schools that does not mandate pre-reqs. I have taken Microbiology and Statistics, but never Anatomy, etc. I don't know if I have any sort of shot at getting in to Yale, and I would greatly appreciate it if any of you have some insight. Does anyone know the typical GRE range for a GENP student? I think that not having any pre-reqs will definitely work against me. But I'm currently working for in the global health portfolio of a well known international development agency, and I hope this experience will strengthen my resume. I'd like to sign up for more pre-req classes so I can apply to other schools (columbia, pace, georgetown direct entry programs all require pre-reqs) but I typically work until about 8/9 pm and there's no way i can take classes. any advice? I would love to go to Yale, though I know that I should not count on getting in...at the moment i believe it's my only option - i would have to get a new job to take pre-req classes to apply to other schools.
