  1. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experience working with Medical Staffing Network in NYC. I'm considering working with them for a full time 13 week assignment. I'm wondering how reliable they are as a company and if they pay as well as they say they do. I have read mixed reviews online. I appreciate any feedback.
  2. Update - I was just accepted into the MSN NP program for Family Primary Care! I'm so grateful and excited!!
  3. CNP2012, thanks for sharing. It's reassuring. I called the other day and explained my situation. They're going to review my application for admission into the MSN program. I wrote an additional essay and scheduled an interview for tomorrow morning. I'm nervous!
  4. Martha110 - It's great that you found a house so close to the SON since parking at the UofR can be a real challenge! I'm not looking forward to making the long trek from the parking lot by foot/bus during colder months. Nickpwalters - I like Rochester well enough to stay for another year or so. It doesn't really compare to Chicago, but I appreciate the high level of diversity and culture despite its small size. It's kind of a quirky city and the people are generally very friendly. I've had nothing but positive experiences at the University of Rochester itself. It's nice to know there will be a fellow former Chicago resident in the program! :) Hilton1234 - I still can't find it. I'm able to find pages for Jan and Sept cohorts, though. Hmmm.... Just out of curiousity...how old is everyone?
  5. Thanks for the response hopefulnurse24. What I meant to say is that I don't feel comfortable paying that much for a degree that will put me on equal salary ground with all RNs. I'm afraid I'll be swimming in debt for a long time...whereas if I'd feel more confident in my ability to pay off my loans if I were to be locked into an advanced degree track. Does that make sense?
  6. I received my acceptance phone call this afternoon! I'm so happy to have been given this opportunity, but I don't think I can afford the tuition for only a BSN. I wish I would have submitted my application for the BSN/MSN program. I wonder if it's too late....does anyone know?
  7. Hello everyone! I've recently been accepted into the May 2013 cohort. I'm so grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I've heard nothing but great things about the program. Originally, I planned on attending Marquette for a DE-MSN, but think it's important to gain a solid foundation in nursing with a BSN before pursuing an advanced degree. I look forward to starting school and meeting you all in May! Also, just want to say I'm currently living in the area (moved from Chicago to attend UR for a different graduate program) and I'm happy to answer any questions about Rochester etc. :)
  8. I can't find it...
  9. I don't think there is a specific amount of time given to students to pass the NCLEX and find a job. I do know that we are unable to continue the MSN portion of the program until gaining RN certification. We have up to 6 years to complete the program. I would like to complete the program as soon as possible, so will try my best to take the exam during winter break 2014. In regards to midwifery, I think it may take you longer to find job and clinical placement if you wish to work within that area. Also, after reading past threads, I've learned that pediatric, acute care, and midwifery often take longer to complete than other specialties. Hope that helps! Hopefulnurse24 - Congratulations! That's great news. Best of luck to you. Reifme25 - No, I don't think we have a facebook group yet.
  10. I applied mid December. The first thing I heard from the school was a request for an updated transcript. Hope that helps!
  11. Mindyland, I'm hoping you can answer a few questions about the program and the Ashburn, VA area. What is the NCLEX pass rate? What is the cost of living? If I choose to attend, I'll be relocating from NY. Would you say it's easy to meet other young professionals in the area?
  12. I received my acceptance e-mail. Woohoo!
  13. Rainkissedleaves - I finished my certified background check, but I haven't completed the health history portion. I'm trying to get in contact with the company since I used the incorrect tracking code. Are you finished? I'm visiting Milwaukee and MU later this week. Has anyone visited or plan on visiting soon? I've given it a lot of thought and I've pretty much decided that I'll attend Marquette. I think I said it before, but looking forward to meeting everyone and for classes to begin. It'll be May before we know it! Also, I'm curious, how old is everyone? I'm 26
  14. Hi, starting a thread for GWU ABSN Fall 2013 applicants. Has anyone applied? If so, have you heard anything from admissions?
