I don't know where to begin. I've been in IR for 1 1/2 years, and its been great, until recently. Its been horrible. Too many patients, not enough nurses or techs. Pts having horrible wait times. One port waited 4 hours to get back to the room for procedure. I'm constantly appoligizing for the wait times. Fri was just horrible. I was in a case from 1030 until 1630. no break no one could relieve us. no one got lunches. this case should have only lasted 1-2 hrs. case didn't actually start until 1130. I'm constantly being pulled this way and that way. We have a new doc-that's why fri's case lasted sooooooooo long. I don't know how much more I can take, and I only work part time. I don't know how the full timeers do it. They haven't been closing up until 7 ish most nights and getting called in at night.

We have way too many patients scheduled for the amount of staff we have.

Thanks for letting me unload. I have to go to work tomorrow:o

Dang that sounds like a horrible thing. I like you, would not wait four hours to go back to my room........very sad. Is there something else you would like to try?

Poor patient and poor nurse having to go through a procedure that long. Any chance the new doc will pick up speed??? we hope!

Im starting to think that IR all over is in a crisis........

Been there, done that. I worked radiology for less than a year. I knew very quickly why they were so anxious for me to accept the position. We had only 3 rns and one was constantly off on fmla, which she abused and got by with d/t lax management in the dept. Anyway, I can so relate to frann's dilemma. I started as pt also, but rarely worked less than a 40+ hr week. I finally gave it up. I'm now prn, and loving it. (At another facility).
